Synopsis[]

CONTROLLING THE CHAOS – As the Charmed Ones (Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock) try to contain what was unleashed from the Tomb of Chaos, they discover who created it... and why. Also starring Rupert Evans.

Plot[]

Six days after the scorpions appeared at Vera Manor, Macy is chasing down a Worm Monster. A man exits a club and is nearly eaten by the monster, but Macy manages to vanquish it. Back in the Command Center, Harry is having trouble activating the Stone Tablet. The map alerts a new rift opening in Germany. Maggie is tasked with chasing down the new monster. Though appearing tired and overwhelmed by monster chasing and school work at first, she soon exits the Command Center looking fully energized.

Joséfina introduces Mel to the Bruja's Ladder, a spell she combined with Elder magic and brujeria. The spell can bind a creature and neutralize their powers. Joséfina wants to join her cousins on their mission, but Mel declines, knowing it is dangerous for her to face monsters without powers.

Harry tries to heal Macy's given from her battle with the worm monster, but her allergy repels his effort. Frustrated and angry at the situation, Macy goes home. Meanwhile, residual blood from the monster drips down from Macy's jacket and transforms into a new worm monster.

Meanwhile, Maggie tracks down the monster and has a premonition of herself being attacked by the monster. The vision causes her to have a panic attack; she remedies it with Emotional Inception to give herself confidence. Back at the Command Center, a new rift opens, forcing Mel to go on the mission, where she defeats a Tentacle Creature. Right then, a pair of people magically appears and starts attacking her with Sound Emission. Seeing they are immune to her powers, she retreats to the Command Center, but they instantly follow. After failing to contain them with a containment spell and them taking Harry's powers, she tries Joséfina's Bruja's ladder, which successfully neutralizes them.

Macy tries to bind her wound at home but the toxin from it causes her to collapse. Meanwhile, Maggie faces off against the monster which mimics her moves. When she finally sees the monster resembling her appearance, she tries to escape but realizes she never took a marble with her. Trying to restore her confidence also fails due to the fatigue and overwhelming fear. Seeing both of her sisters in danger, Mel sets off to find Maggie while Harry goes home to help Macy; Joséfina volunteers to watch the strangers.

Harry saves Macy by feeding her healing potion. After she wakes up, Macy realizes they can now touch and take the moment to enjoy the closeness. Mel saves Maggie from the doppelgänger, and they defeat it together. Back at the Command Center, Joséfina tries to communicate with the strangers, with sporadic success. While the strangers do not speak, their humming causes the tablet to glow. Feeling it proof that they mean no harm, she reverses the spell. They instantly approach her with hostile looks.

In Germany, Maggie confesses to Mel that she has been using her power to boost her confidence. The constant monster hunting has run them all ragged. Maggie failed her last psych test and still has a paper due. Mel encourages her to ask for help.

Macy and Harry enter SafeSpace to find everyone unconscious. Maggie and Mel find Joséfina on the floor in the Command Center and the strangers 'attacking' whomever is conscious. Mel joins Harry and Macy while Maggie looks for remedies to help Joséfina, who wakes up and tells them what she knows about the strangers: they are not evil, but merely trying to understand the world. The regenerated worm monster appears behind Maggie. The strangers open the Tomb of Chaos and send it through, and then restore Harry's powers.

The strangers, now able to speak, introduce themselves as the Perfecti — two utterly perfect beings created by ancient magical tribes over twenty thousand years ago. In that time, there was no government, institutional structure or Charmed Ones, only unchecked magic. Monsters and chaotic beings rampaged the Earth. The Perfecti were tasked with creating the Tomb and imprisoning all of the creatures. After their work was done, they placed themselves in the Tomb and slumbered until seven days ago when Macy read from the tablet. The Perfecti offer to take over capturing the escaped monsters and fixing the tomb's rifts, much to the Charmed Ones' happiness. Macy asks them about the allergy they are afflicted with and if they know how to cure it. The Perfecti admit that they do know a way.

The next day, Maggie books a session with a psychiatrist for herself. Harry and Macy talk about their problem with immortality. Mel encourages Joséfina to see herself as a witch, and shows her a recreated version of the Book of Shadows. One of the pages has the Bruja's Ladder added in it.

The Charmed Ones meet up with the Perfecti and open a portal to destinations unknown.

  • Harry loses his powers and briefly becomes mortal. The same thing happened to his counterpart, Leo, when the Elders clipped his wings.
  • The cover of the newly assembled Book of Shadows, recreated by Mel, resembles the book, in the original series.
  • The Perfecti are comparable to the Cleaners from the original series, having been chosen by the entirely of the supernatural world and granted immense powers to be able to maintain order and balance. The Cleaners were chosen by both good and evil and given immense powers to be able to keep magic hidden from humans.
    • As noted by other viewers they're also comparable to The Avatars from the original series.
  • Mel's acceptance of Josefina's skills mirrors Piper not trusting Paige's abilities when the Charmed Ones were reconstituted.
  • After destroying the worm monster, it was able to regenerate/replicate itself through the residual goo stained on Macy's jacket. Similarly, the Slime Demon was able to reform itself after Piper blew up its main body.

Quotes[]

Mel: I know, as women, we feel the need to handle everything ourselves.
Maggie: Because we want to project strength in a world that refuses to acknowledge our power.
Mel: Yes. But the most powerful thing we can do is ask for help. Maggie, you don't have to face every monster alone.

Mo: Hold on to your broomsticks.
