The Chase Family is a family that settled in Seattle, Washington sometime in the late 19th century. The entire male line of this family was cursed to die at the age of 25, because of the destruction of one of the covens of witches at the hands of Lawrence Mortimer Chase in 1889. This curse would be broken over one hundred years later in 2021 by Jordan Chase.

Family Members[]

Males[]

  • William Henry Chase: William was the husband of Mary Beatrice Chase and the father of Lawrence Mortimer Chase. He was a committed barley and grain farmer, and lived his days devoted to the land more than his own family, often absent at home. His later years and cause of death are not specified.
  • Lawrence Mortimer Chase: Lawrence was the husband of Rebecca Eleanor Chase and the father of Rudolph Chase. He was a farmer who became known as the Witchfinder General in the nineteenth century. His son, Rudolph, was born when he was 22 years old. Most notably, Lawrence Mortimer Chase was responsible for igniting the Great Fire of 1889 when he burnt down the Tulipe Women's Asylum in Seattle, Washington, which was believed to be inhabited by witches. The fire destroyed much of Seattle's commercial and arts district, ate through much of the financial district, and well into several residential area, leaving death and destruction in its wake. During the fire, Lawrence and his entire male lineage was cursed by the dying breath of a witch, Florence, when he proceeded to decimate her entire coven and stole her black amber ring. In the months following the Great Fire, Lawrence was said to have gone mad. He quit his role as Witchfinder General and became a hermit. He would die an "accidental death" at the age of twenty-five, due to the curse placed by Florence.
  • Rudolph Chase: Lawrence's son. His son took over as Witchfinder General until his untimely death at age 25 due to the curse. Born 1886. Died 1911.
  • Herman Chase: Rudolph's son, who also died at age 25. Born June 17, 1905. Died July 3, 1930.
  • Percy Mortimer Chase: Rudolph's grandson, who also died at age 25. Born January 8, 1930. Died September 1, 1955.
  • Jordan Chase's grandfather: Revealed to have died in Vietnam at age 25.
  • Jordan Chase's father: In the episode "Curse Words", Jordan revealed to Maggie he had been fatherless since his dad died of a brain aneurysm in 1999 when he was four years old.
  • Jordan Chase's uncle: There's not much known about the man except that he was killed in a car crash before his twenty-sixth birthday.
  • Jordan Chase: Jordan was nearly killed in accidents on his 26th birthday, but Maggie was able to save him. Jordan spent the next year trying to undo his family curse. He succeeded when he saved an apparition of Florence and vowed to make the next generation better,

Females[]

  • Mary Beatrice Chase: Mary was the wife of William Henry Chase and the mother of Lawrence Mortimer Chase. She was a Christian woman, who imbued Lawrence with the desire to rid the world of evil from a very young age. When his mother would act as the disciplinarian of their small-town community's code of conduct, Lawrence would often help his mother as she rapped wrists with rulers, forced naughty children to go without food or stand out in the cold until the risk of frostbite became too high. These corporal punishments would do much to shape how Lawrence viewed the world and his responsibility to judge those that lived in it with him. She was born on September 25, 1841, and died on August 11, 1910 at age 69.
  • Rebecca Eleanor Chase: Lawrence's wife and Rudolph's mother. She was born on March 1, 1870, and died on June 13, 1932 at age 62.
  • Elizabeth Lucy Chase: Rudolph's wife and Herman's mother. She was born February 2, 1888, and died on January 25, 1951 at age 63.
  • Jordan Chase's mother: She is currently still alive.

Artifacts[]

  • Chase Family Ring (formerly): This ring was passed on to the men of his family for 130 years, but in Curse Words, Jordan decided to return it to its rightful owner Florence to calm her anger.
