Humans have been trying to acquire magic since the dawn of time. Throughout history, Conquerors rise and attempt to steal the power for themselves.

The Conqueror is a title that is assigned to all beings of mortal origin that throughout history have tried to claim all magic for themselves. Whenever a Conqueror rose, the Charmed Ones were there to stop them.

History[]

Dawn of Time[]

Ten thousand years ago, during the time of either the 8th or 9th Millenium B.C.[1], when magic was everywhere, an unknown power-hungry mortal began his reign of siphoning all of the world's magic for himself. When the reign of his tyranny became too endangering, the nine original clans of magic, including mermen, hobgoblins, elves, gremlins, Loveland frogs, lamias, trolls, leprechauns, and pixies, came together to fight him. Each creature poured their remaining power into the Unity Bowl to forge an unprecedented ultimate power that would be able to defeat him. Knowing it was too much for one being to handle, and only witches could bear such power, they asked a trio of witches (Ishta, Inara, and Ishani) to drink from the bowl, making them the first Charmed Ones.[2] As a fail-safe in the event where the Power of Three failed to stop him, they also created the Nebron Root Bomb to destroy his magic, though they managed to defeat him without resorting to the bomb. After their battle, the first Conqueror and the first Charmed Ones were remembered in legend.

Eventually, Inara wanted to restore the stolen power of the Conqueror, to put magic everywhere. Ishta and Ishani disagreed, knowing it would continue to create temptation for another Conqueror to rise. So, they combined the power in one place and hid it so no one could find it, thus creating the Sacred Flame/The Source of All Evil.

Despite putting the collected power in the Source, new Conquerors continued to rise with the same goal, only to be stopped by the new Charmed Ones.[3]

Throughout the Series[]

In "Unsafe Space", Celeste expressed her suspicions to Harry Greenwood that Julian Shea might be the reincarnation of the Conqueror, but Harry didn't share her concerns.

In "Someone's Going to Die", the Guardian told the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones the Conqueror had risen. Macy Vaughn suspected it to be Vivienne Laurent while Mel and Maggie Vera believed it was Julian Shea. In the end, it was proven to be the former. The Conqueror claimed enough magic and knowledge to break into the Command Center and poison the Black Amber Tree. The Charmed Ones then vanquished her with the Power of Three Spell, as it was too much for one being to handle.

In "Unlucky Charmed", Harry told Kaela Danso about the first Conqueror and the first Charmed Ones.

  • Vivienne Laurent(formerly)

Trivia[]

  • The myth of the Conqueror was first told by Celeste in "Unsafe Space".
  • While Vivienne used modern day science to steal magic from magical beings which eventually led to the creation of the Prism, a device which allowed her to wield the siphoned magic, to become the most recent Conqueror, it is never specified what method the first Conqueror used over 10,000 years beforehand to be able to steal the magic that would eventually be combined into the Source. It is also left unclear how the Conquerors preceding Vivienne were able to claim magic, if they were successful in their attempts at all before being stopped by the Charmed Ones.
  • The description references to the Hollow from the original series. The Hollow is a mysterious force that possesses other beings and absorbs all kinds of magic, and grew so powerful that it needed to be stopped by both good and evil.
