The Darklighter Talisman is a magical artifact originally owned by the Elders that is used to capture or release Darklighters from the enchanted bottles used to contain them. The talisman can also be used to control a Darklighter. Its partner is a skeleton key.

Marisol Vera safeguarded the talisman until her death. It was then stolen by Ray Vera who sold it at the black market before the talisman eventually ended up in the hands of a dangerous faction of humans who knew that magic existed. The Faction used the talisman to free Harry Greenwood's Darklighter, Jimmy, from his bottle to begin their assault against the magical community.

Description[]

The talisman is a round object about the size of a palm, including the symbol of an eye with unrecognizable runes.

History[]

In "The Truth about Kat and Dogs", TBA

In "When Sparks Fly", the episode opens with a two-month flashback to when Jimmy was released from his bottle. The talisman is shown opening the bottle, though it is not shown who used it.

In "Guess Who's Coming to SafeSpace Seattle", Ray revealed that he stole the talisman after Marisol's funeral and sold it on the black market. About a year later, it landed in the hands of the Faction, and they sent mercenaries to find Ray and track down its source, prompting Ray to go into hiding.

In a flashback in "Unsafe Space", it is shown that Julian Shea and Vivienne Laurent used the talisman to release Jimmy from his containment, as shown at the beginning of "When Sparks Fly". Since the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones didn't have the talisman, Celeste and Harry went to Castle Breithe to retrieve the skeleton key to release Jimmy.

Trivia[]

  • Although not shown onscreen, it can be presumed that Jimmy was placed back into his bottle by the Faction using the talisman sometime between his self-resurrection in "When Sparks Fly" and the events of "Sudden Death".
  • After the defeat of the Faction and the death of Jimmy-the last Darklighter, the talisman lost its purpose and thus became an insignificant artifact. It is unknown what became of the talisman following the Faction's defeat.
  • It is unknown why the Elders never used the talisman to lock away Helen's Darklighter. However,  since she was the first Darklighter, it is possible that the Elders did not know what would happen when they extracted the negative sides and that they saw the result and created the talisman afterwards, but it had no effect on Helen's Darklighter because she had been created before the talisman.
