Dryads are tree spirits that live in harmony with nature. They are fundamentally peaceful and pacifistic.
In "Past is Present", a group of dryads at Sacred Grove were attacked and massacred by demons. They guarded the hallowed tree there to protect other forces from getting ahold of the immunity-granting apples that grew from them. Macy Vaughn, Maggie Vera and Harry Greenwood received a distress call from the Command Center and went there. They found an injured telepathic witch and managed to heal her. However, the dryads were all dead.
- In Greek mythology, dryads are a type of tree spirit, or nymph. Dryads are specifically the nymphs of oak trees. They were normally considered to be very shy creatures, except around the goddess Artemis, who was known to be friendly toward most nymphs. Dryads are often described as "tied to their homes (trees)," although some dryads are able to leave their post. Many say they are bound to their trees. If the tree dies, they die, but some are said to haunt those who cause their demise. In many representations, dryads cannot move far from their trees.
