Ergokinesis (also known as Energy Manipulation, Energy Projection, or Energy Generation) is the power to create and manipulate various forms of powerful energy, focusing and using them to perform specific functions, usually of an offensive or defensive nature.

Overview[]

This power has many branches in the form of separate active powers belonging to various species of magical beings, such as Force Field Generation, Energy Blast Generation, Energy Ball Generation, and Energy Beam Emission. Additionally, there are numerous types of energy that may be projected and manipulated, including purely magical energy, solar energy, sonic energy, emotional energy, telekinetic energy, and spectral energy. The effects of this power can also be harnessed through the use of spells and magical weapons (i.e. the Binding Whip).

Variations of Ergokinesis[]

Emotional Energy Manipulation[]

Emotional Energy Manipulation is an expansion of empathy that allows the empath to channel an emotion and manifest it into raw energy. This energy can be used in a defensive manner, such as to create a force field, or in an offensive manner, such as to blast someone away. In certain cases, it can be used to not only protect from a magical attack but also deflect it back. Maggie Vera developed this expansion a few months after her powers were awakened[1]; however, she soon lost access to the power after her aura was stripped.[2]

Telekinetic Energy Generation[]

Telekinetic Energy Generation is an expansion of telekinesis that allows the user to generate pure telekinetic energy to various effects. Telekinetic energy can be generated through powerful displays of basic telekinesis, as well as to add strength to one's telekinetic abilities. It is also possible for users to generate more focused telekinetic energy, allowing them to develop the ability to produce a field of telekinetic energy that can immobilize beings, produce beams of telekinetic energy capable of at least blasting targets backwards, generate blasts of telekinetic energy, or produce force fields of telekinetic energy to prevent others from entering certain areas. Macy Vaughn developed the ability to produce telekinetic energy soon after reawakening her telekinesis to a more advanced state following her aura being stripped.[3] Abigael Jameson-Caine has also shown the ability to generate telekinetic energy to some extent.

Branches of Ergokinesis[]

Beaming[]

Beaming is a form of the ability of teleportation, allowing the users to teleport by breaking their bodies down into a mass of bright energy before 'beaming' upward and dematerializing, and 'beaming' downward and rematerializing in the same mass of bright energy at their intended destination. The only known users of this ability are the Perfecti, Mo and Aladria. In one instance, the Perfecti were shown floating in the air in the form of two, bright balls of energy before finally materializing upon the ground.[4]

Disintegration[]

Disintegration is the ability to destroy objects by breaking them down into small particles. Charity Callahan's version of this ability seemed to be energy-based and caused violet ropes of energy to swirl around her hand as the targeted object (i.e. a gun) completely disappeared in violet orbs of energy.[5]

Energy Ball Generation[]

Energy Ball Generation is the ability to create and throw balls of energy, resembling electrical discharges. The energy ball is formed through the hands and is used to attack a target. The only known being to possess this power was the half-demon Parker Caine before all of his powers were stripped by demon-witch Abigael Jameson-Caine. The intensity of the energy ball depends on the user's own level of power and skill, though it would seem that energy balls can be quite deadly to mortals and magical beings, unless the target is resistant to such an attack, evident when Godric survived being hit by an energy ball from Parker.[3]

Energy Beam Emission[]

Energy Beam Emission is the ability to emit powerful beams of various forms of energy from one's hands. When the wielder uses this ability, large concentrated beams of energy are projected from the hands at a target with varying levels of damage to the target. As Macy Vaughn's powers expanded, she developed the ability to generate telekinetic energy, allowing her to produce a beam of telekinetic energy that is capable of at least knocking beings backwards.[6] The Perfecti possess the ability to produce beams of energy from their hands, which they utilize most commonly to open their triangular portals into the Tomb of Chaos, though they also displayed a rare defensive side of this power when attacked by the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones.[7] Additionally, this ability can also be accessed through the usage of certain spells such as the Solar Charm.[8]

Energy Blast Generation[]

Energy Blast Generation is the ability to release a blast of various forms of energy. Most usually, this ability takes the form of an explosion of energy that fires from the user's hands in front of them to either incapacitate/kill an opponent or destroy some type of barrier. The offensive side of Maggie Vera's power to convert emotion into raw energy allowed her to generate blasts of energy from strong emotions, such as when Maggie's innate fear caused an energy blast to manifest between her legs during an intense sexual experience, sending Parker Caine flying across the room.[9] This power was later rendered dormant after Maggie's aura was stripped. Whitelighter Tessa Flores-Cohen possessed this ability in some form, using it to shoot a blast of white energy at Fiona Callahan and knocked her backwards over a coffin. However, this attack did not seem very powerful and Fiona quickly retaliated by killing Tessa with an electrokinetic blast.[10] After taking on the immense power of the Source, Macy was able to shoot a blast of telekinetic energy to fend off her sisters, sending them flying backwards.[11] Additionally, it has also been shown that some ghosts may be able to project their emotions into blasts of spectral energy. The spirits of Daisy and Roger both blasted spiritual energy in anger after possessing Maggie.[12] This ability can also be accessed through the usage of certain spells, such as the Solar Charm.[13]

Energy Channeling[]

Energy Channeling is the ability to channel yellow radiant energy into the palms of one's hands that allows the user to counteract physical attacks, such as punches, and fight people with greater training in hand-to-hand combat on a more even field. This ability has only ever been shown to be obtained through the use of a Vortex Viribus. While empowered by the Vortex beneath Vera Manor, Charity Callahan was able to parry Mel Vera's punches with this ability and overpower her. [14]

Force Field Generation[]

Force Field Generation is the ability to create and project powerful fields of energy. The most common usage of this power is to shield against oncoming magical attacks. Though, it has also been shown to be used to prevent beings from entering a location. The Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones learned to project a field of protective energy by combining Maggie Vera's ability of Emotional Energy Manipulation with the Power of Three, fending off an attack by the demon Alastor[1] and later sheilding themselves from deathbolts thrown at them by Fiona Callahan.[10] When the sisters were attacked by the hooded assassin, Jimmy, they tried to use the Power of Three, but he was able to resist it enough that all it did was temporarily contain him in a force field before Harry Greenwood arrived and orbed the girls away. Later, this ability was rendered dormant after the sisters had their auras stripped.[2] Abiku Demons also possess a variation of this ability. After taking Macy, an Abiku placed a barrier around the Vera Manor to prevent Maggie and Mel Vera, Galvin Burdette, and Tessa Flores-Cohen from entering after them. However, Tessa was able to pierce through the Yoruba barrier with Mama Roz's dagger which allowed them to enter.[15] Additionally, after Abigael Jameson-Caine regained her demonic form, her demon side began to attack herself in her sleep. In an attempt to prevent Mel from waking her up, Abigael's demon side oncr generated a force field of telekinetic energy around her bed after setting fire to the room.[16]

Portal Creation[]

Portal Creation is the ability to create openings in space between two locations. In most cases, these portals manifest as energy fields through space linking two seperate locations, allowing for instantaneous travel from one location to the other. The first known wielders of this ability were the Callahan sisters, Charity and Fiona Callahan. Charity's portals appeared as circular holes in space, outlined with neon violet energy and light. Fiona's portals appeared as oval holes in space with a blue aura, outlined in green energy/light and a more flame-like appearance than her sister's. The Perfecti have the ability of creating portals to imprison magical beings that they have deemed too chaotic within the Tomb of Chaos. The Perfecti's power is activated through the emission of varying frequencies of sound - though this is not always necessary - and by projecting a bright, blue glowing energy outward from their hands. The portals leading to the tomb appear as white, glowing upside-down triangular openings in space that are capable of sucking the dangerous beings into the prison dimension. Several magical artifacts and substances have also shown the ability to open portals to various effects. The Command Center possesses a magical system that can allow magical beings, such as witches and Whitelighters, to create a portal from the Center to anywhere in the world by navigating a map of the world to select the desired destination. This system also generates a marble made of black amber that, when thrown, reopens the portal back to the Command Center. The portals generated by the Command Center appear as circular holes in space, similar to the Callahan sisters', but are outlined differently, dependant upon which side they are viewed from. In the Command Center, they have a blue energy outline, while outside, they are outlined yellow.

Sonic Ball Generation[]

Sonic Ball Generation is the ability to create and project balls of sonic energy. This power manifests as a blue glowing ball that is formed in the user's hands. When thrown, it can heavily harm, or even completely destroy, those in its path and can leave behind a fire in the color blue. The unleashing of this ball is accompanied by a blast of noise. The only known user of this power is the witch Cyd. She was powerful enough to melt through magical chains of restraint.[17]

Spells Accessing Ergokinesis[]

Conjuring the Binding Whip[]

The Binding Whip is a magical device that can be conjured with a spell. The only known wielder of the Binding Whip was Charity Callahan, who was powerful enough to nonverbally conjure the Binding Whip. The device releases energy which can then be utilized like a whip to bind and restrain other beings.

Kinetic Blast Spell[]

The Kinetic Blast Spell is a spell that propels a force of kinetic energy at an intended target, similarly to an energy blast. It is used for combating, subduing and disarming an opponent. If a being is aware enough, it has been shown that this spell can be dodged.

Solar Charm[]

The Solar Charm is a spell that manifests powerful solar energy that can be used to attack an opponent. The energy from the spell can be released in multiple ways as seen by Mel Vera and several of the Elders. When Mel cast the spell, the energy manifested in a glowing orb that she was able to fire at her opponent. The orb exploded into a blast of blue light and released a sonic boom that was capable of vanquishing or severely harming those in its path. When the Elders cast the spell, they were able to manifest the energy into beams of white and blue light from their hands.
