She was passionate, talented, and stubborn, just like you.
Harry telling Mel about his previous charge[src]

Fiona Callahan was an extremely powerful witch who was the younger sister of Charity Callahan and a former charge of Harry Greenwood's. Through unknown circumstances, she became known as "the Keeper of The Sacred Flame", a primordial source of power that is actually the source of all of magic itself. Fiona was imprisoned in Tartarus by the Elders, as they felt intimidated because she had befriended the Sarcana. She was in there for around a decade until Jada Shields freed her with the use of the Scythe of Tartarus.

After regaining her strength, Fiona then turned on the Sarcana, decimating the coven of witches and even killing her own sister. She planned to raise the Source in order to kill the host and destroy all of magic. However, she was ultimately killed upon igniting the Sacred Flame, as her immortality had been stripped by one of the previous Charmed Ones, Macy Vaughn.

History[]

Early Life[]

Around early 2009, Fiona was imprisoned in Tartarus by the Elders for her affiliation with the Sarcana. However, the cover revealed her magic to the wrong mortal. She was subsequently institutionalized and came to believe that she was insane, rather than truly possessing magical abilities.[2]

She was said to have committed suicide until it was revealed that she was alive and a member of the Sarcana in late 2018, having been released from Tartarus after having been imprisoned there by the Elders around a decade earlier.

Throughout the Series[]

In "Bug a Boo", after stealing the scythe in the previous episode, Jada Shields used a spell to release Fiona from imprisonment in Tartarus with the Scythe of Tartarus. Later, Mel Vera found the Sarcana lair, but she got hit on the head by Aliya before she discovered Fiona.

In "Keep Calm and Harry On", the Sarcana were attempting to heal Fiona with hellflame in an incubator, but they did not have enough to fully restore her. Mel finally sees her unconscious body, but the Sarcana still don't tell her that this witch is Fiona, and only refer to her as "the Keeper of the Sacred Flame". Mel later finds more hellflame to help complete her restoration process.

In "Touched by a Demon", Fiona wakes up from her slumber when Parker Caine accidentally phase-shifts with Maggie Vera during a sexual experience down into a mysterious room that has appeared underneath Vera Manor.

In "Switches & Stones", still partially bedridden, Fiona meets Mel who she initially mistakes for Marisol Vera before Jada tells her that's Marisol's daughter instead. Fiona guesses Maggie (unknowingly correct due to the fact that Mel had accidentally switched bodies with Maggie) however Mel corrects Fiona's mistake and learns that Fiona is not willing to reconnect with her sister even let alone let her know she's alive due to their unresolved issues which Maggie as Mel finds extremely sad before leaving Fiona to get more rest.

In "Memento Mori", Fiona portals into the Vera Manor after Charity Callahan has her powers stripped by the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones. Harry Greenwood is both shocked and thrilled to see that she was alive, though she asks for a moment alone with her sister. Charity is at first expecting a happy reunion, though Fiona tells her that it is she who is destined for "greatness" and then she says that the Vortex Viribus is meant for her. She then leaves Charity "to enjoy Tartarus."

In "Surrender", Fiona tried to extract Harry's knowledge in order to locate the Origin Dagger, which was the tool needed to control the Sacred Flame. Unfortunately, she was unable to extract the map from his mind since he was powerless and mortal at the time. Fiona later convinced the Charmed Ones to let her take Harry so she could help him. She brought him to the Vortex Viribus, where she restored his powers and revealed the map in his mind, but she was still unable to take the knowledge. Seeing no other choice, Fiona took Harry along with her.

In "The Replacement", Mel visited the Mystic Mayhem Tattoo Parlor, where she found the Sarcana massacred. Jada Shields was the only survivor. She told her Fiona came and massacred all of them.

In "Source Material", Tessa Flores-Cohen and the Charmed Ones found Fiona and Harry in a crypt, where Fiona had a Control Shackle wrapped around Harry's neck to control him. She tried to find the Origin Dagger, but failed to do so. During a battle between the witches, Tessa sacrificed herself to protect Mel. Fiona ordered Harry to kill Maggie and Mel, but they set him free. Deciding to take on them herself, Fiona tried to attack, but they were able to deflect her power, prompting her to retreat.

In "Ambush", Macy Vaughn learned from Harry that there was a ritual to strip immortality by it had to be self-inflicted. She found a demonic Voodoo ritual that would allow her to control Fiona in order to perform the immortality stripping on her. After a long and hard struggle, Macy succeeded in stripping Fiona's immortality. Right after doing so, Alastor appeared and convinced her to work with him. After hearing the Elders had fallen, Fiona went after Charity, her own sister, since she was the last living Elder, who had to die in order for the Source to fully materialize and the prophecy to be fulfilled.

In "Red Rain", Fiona found Charity and Harry in the Vortex Viribus and she killed her sister on sight. While in the forest, Alastor took Maggie hostage, forcing Mel and Macy to stand down. Fiona then ignited the Sacred Flame, intending to let Parker take in the power and destroy him with it in order to destroy magic. Unfortunately, without her immortality, the spell killed her in the process, though it still worked. She told Harry to heal her, but he outright refused and watched her disintegrate.

Personality[]

Described by Harry Greenwood to be as "passionate, talented, and stubborn" as Mel Vera, Fiona was introduced as a physically and mentally broken victim of the Elders, and had to be cared for by the Sarcana. She also seemed to be anguished over how she had let the Elders come between her and her sister, and even warned Maggie (who was, at that time, in Mel's body) to not make the same mistake with her own sisters.

However, after she regained her strength, Fiona revealed a dark side similar to that of Charity's: ruthless, manipulative, and single-minded. Despite Charity's surprise and joy upon seeing her again, Fiona showed her only utter contempt and distaste, going as far as to state that it was too late to reconstitute their own relationship. In fact, later on, she ultimately killed her sister and almost the entire Sarcana to ensure the Apocalypse would come to pass, and enslaved Harry to use his healing powers for her own advantage. She also had absolutely no qualms in cooperating with Alastor to raise the Source, for by then, Fiona was led completely by her intense and driving desire to destroy magic itself, as she felt it had ruined her life.

Physical Appearance[]

Fiona was a beautiful woman with long blonde hair that reaches down to her back. Outwardly, she was very similar to her older sister. While she was still recovering but already conscious, she had a glowing turquoise rune on her forehead, though now it has gone.

Powers and Abilities[]

Fiona was an exceptionally powerful witch and "one of the greatest witches in recent history" due to her status as a Keeper. Jada status that she was one of the few witches that could match the Power of Three.[3]

Basic Powers

Active Powers
  • Portal Creation: The ability to create portals to travel from place to place, including alternate dimensions. She had the same power as her sister, Charity, but with a teal aura and a more flame-like appearance.
  • Telepathy: The power to access the mind of other beings. It is generally an "umbrella" term used to refer to any ability pertaining to projecting, reading or manipulating the mind. Fiona was seen using this in Red Rain when a rune appeared on her forehead allowing her to listen to a conversation between Maggie Vera and Parker Caine.
  • Telekinesis: The ability to move objects and people with her mind.
  • Voice Echo: The ability to cast one's voice throughout another room in an echo.
Gained powers from Vortex Viribus
  • Swirling: While still tapped into the power of the Vortex, Fiona was shown to be able to teleport without the use of portals, in an inward folding green swirl, and succeeded to take Harry with her. She only used this ability once.
  • Power Mirroring: The ability to copy the powers used on one self after the original power has been projected from its original source. According to Fiona, she obtained this power through the Vortex Viribus. According to Harry, Fiona couldn't mirror the Power of Three.
  • Sensing: The power to determine the location and status of other beings by concentrating on them. Fiona was able to sense that Harry and her sister Charity were in the Vortex Viribus.
Passive Powers
  • Immunity: Being a witch, Fiona was inherently immune to certain magical abilities and effects (e.g. being frozen in time, the songs of the sirens, and to mind-altering effects of pixie dust).

Former Powers
  • Immortality: The power to live a potentially eternal life. Fiona possessed immortality due to her role as the Keeper of The Sacred Flame/Steward of The Source of All Evil. However, her immortality was stripped by Macy with a demonic Voodoo ritual.
    • Enhanced Durability: The ability to withstand physical/magical harm that would otherwise be lethal. In Fiona's case, the immortality made her near-indestructible and no one was able to find an effective method to outright kill her. Fiona's immortality rendered her immune to the effect of deathbolts, as witnessed when her own deathbolt was deflected back to her. It was later revealed that Fiona’s immortality would have saved her from dying when she ignited the Sacred Flame, had Macy not stripped it from her.

Weaknesses[]

  • Immortality Stripping Ritual: Despite being immortal, her immortality could be stripped, rendering her defenseless and killable. Macy performed the ritual from a distance and stripped her of her immortality.

Equipment[]

  • Control Shackle: A magical collar-like device that allows the user to forcefully control someone. In Source Material, Fiona used a shackle to control Harry Greenwood. She would order him to do something, and if he refused, she would make the shackle choke and shock him. She would also use it to torture him should he do something she didn’t want him to, e.g - 'Harry, heal me,'
  • Vortex Viribus: A Vortex Viribus appeared underneath Vera Manor in early 2019. It was meant to empower Fiona for the prophecy of the Apocalypse.
  • The Sacred Flame: Fiona was the "Keeper of the Sacred Flame", which is the source of magic[4] and Jada claimed that she was one of the only witches that can match the powers of the Charmed Ones.[3]

Relationships[]

Family[]

  • Fiona and Charity Callahan: The relationship is icy between the Callahan sisters, particularly from Fiona's side. While Charity was heartbroken from her apparent death and rejoiceful when she appeared to be alive, Fiona is contemptuous of her sister and mocks her status as a powerless mortal.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Throughout the episode, Bug a Boo, it was strongly hinted that Fiona was not institutionalized, but actually imprisoned in Tartarus by the Elders for her affiliation with the Sarcana until Jada released her with the Scythe of Tartarus.
  • It remains a mystery how or why Fiona became tasked with guarding the Sacred Flame.
  • Fiona was the first character who displayed more than one kind of teleportation power. The second one was the Elder Devorah Silver and the third one was the Whitelighter Tessa Flores-Cohen.
  • According to Jada in The Replacement, Fiona was one of the only witches alive that could match the Charmed Ones' powers.
  • Fiona shared a first name with one of the previous Charmed Ones, Fiona Young, mentioned in the Book of Elders. The two had some similarities; both were apparently the youngest sisters, both were exceptionally powerful witches, and both were eventually killed by the very same power they were supposed to protect/wield (Callahan by the Sacred Flame and Young by the Power of Three).

Quotes[]

"Don't make our same mistakes. Don't let anyone come in between you and your sisters. Especially not the Elders." — Fiona to Maggie in Switches & Stones.

"Magic ruined my life. I don't want to control magic. I want to destroy it."
