The Command Center is a magical secret base constructed by the Elders to watch over witches all over the world. In the Command Center, there is a large library and a magical wall-sized map that alerts whenever witches are in danger. The map has different viewing modes that can be utilized using one of the Mode-Shifting Spells, allowing the user to see witches, demons, those infected with the allergy, and rifts from which the monsters are escaping. If entered by specific methods, the Center also serves as a safe place for witches and strips away their auras (which renders their individual powers dormant) upon arrival to make them untraceable by enemies. Since the Elders were massacred and Whitelighters, aside from Harry Greenwood, perished shortly after, it became a base of operations for the Vera-Vaughn-Danso Charmed Ones.

It is located and magically cloaked underneath SafeSpace, Seattle, which can only be accessed through spells, portals and teleportation. There is a door that opens to a chamber where the Black Amber Tree is located. The tree's magic runs through the entire the Command Center and powers the world map and the button that creates portals.

The Command Center is located in the center where Ley Lines connected to each other, and therefore the most powerful point. It is also where the Book of Elders is kept.

History[]

In "Safe Space", the Charmed Ones first came here through a portal when an assassin destroyed their Book of Shadows. When they came through, the magical system stripped away their auras which rendered their individual powers dormant. Since the assassin was still hunting them, they were forced to stay in Seattle. When they found out witches were being killed all over the world and Whitelighters had all died, they realized that they were be the last line of protection.

In "Things to Do in Seattle When You're Dead", Maggie Vera opened a portal to Minnesota to attend Ray Vera's funeral. Mel Vera discovered her visit and followed her—rightfully—to protect her from the assassin who was waiting for them.

In "Careful What You Witch For", Macy Vaughn and Harry Greenwood came back from Alaska after losing a local witch. When the map alerted to another witch under attack, Macy went there alone to save her and met Abigael. A demon named Callum followed the trail to SafeSpace, and Maggie lured him down to the Command Center to negate his powers and vanquish him with Abigael's help. Meanwhile, Mel and Harry looked through the Book of Elders and found a recipe for astral projection.

As discovered by Mel in "The Rules of Engagement", there is the Black Amber Tree growing upside-down in one of the pillars in the Command Center. The black sap in the roots is what eventually awoke Mel's new power of Molecular Manipulation, and gave Maggie a vision of Parker Caine attacking Jordan Chase.

In "Curse Words", Ray Vera is taken to the Command Center for the first time and uses the portal system with Mel. Later, Maggie is forced to take Jordan Chase into the Command Center in order to evade the ghost of Florence.

In "Breaking the Cycle", the sisters accidentally trigger an alarm system when they attempt to dig deeper into the black amber tree. They are then trapped within the Command Center, with no cellphone service, no powers and unable to call Harry for help. The Guardian protecting the Center locks them in a cage of deadly laser beams, forcing them to reveal their darkest secrets to prove that they have no evil intent. After admitting their innermost thoughts, the Command Center resumes its normalcy and the Charmed Ones are granted access to the basement where the tree is located. They then meet the Guardian, who tells them of the fate of the Charmed Ones (where one sister always dies) and they need to walk their own path before they can come back together.

In "Third Time's the Charm", the Charmed Ones rescue a kidnapped witch and bring her back to the Command Center. The Guardian then greets her as "Elder Celeste". She shows them the Demon-Spotting Mode Spell, which changes the map in the Command Center to show demonic activity. Celeste later forcefully puts the Charmed Ones into a sleeping spell to drive them to restoring the Power of Three.

In "The Enemy of My Frenemy", Parker is brought to the Command Center by Macy and Maggie.

In "Unsafe Space", the Shea Group attempts to drill into the Command Center to claim the black amber stored inside. However, the walls protecting the Command Center continues to regenerate itself, making it impossible to break in. With help from Celeste and Ruby, they manage to break into the Command Center and retrieve Jimmy, albeit with unexpected difficulty due to Harry accidentally breaking the binding circle.

In "Someone's Going to Die", while trying to find a way to stop the Faction and working off a vision Maggie had recieved, Mel, Maggie, and Macy unlocked the door to the underchamber where the black amber tree was, in order to ask the Guardian for help. The Guardian explained to the sisters that humans have always sought to gain magic for themselves, with a Conqueror rising every time, with only the Charmed Ones standing in their way. She then stated that if a human were to touch the pure black amber in the chamber, the black amber in the tree itself, it would poison the magical world. Mel believed they would be able to seal the door leading to the tree with a powerful spell she found in the Book of Elders, preventing any human from reaching the black amber, but the Guardian explained that the spell was so powerful because it was permanent. If it was cast, it would seal the chamber, forever, cutting off the flow of black amber that fuels the Command Center, meaning the witch board would go dark, the portal network would never work, and the Charmed Ones could never ask the Guardian for her guidance again. With that knowledge, the sisters agreed to only use the spell as a last resort. Meanwhile, Julian Shea, having switched sides to help the Charmed Ones after learning his aunt was manipulating him, and disguised as Nadia in order to infiltrate the Faction again, told the group of the Prism, a special glove invented by him and Vivienne Laurent that, when powered by black amber, can allow humans to use the magical powers of various beings, as well as siphon the magic of anyone it comes in contact with. Harry, not trusting Julian, went to the Faction's facility, which by this point was now protected by a magical faraday cage, preventing anyone magical from entering. To counteract this, the Charmed Ones cast a spell to Turn the Tide in the Command Center, making the barrier let Harry through. When Macy portalled to the facility in order to help Harry when they discovered that Vivienne had stolen the magic from possibly hundreds of magical beings, she and Harry found Julian, partially petrified, and dying. Macy went to search for Vivienne while Harry stayed to try and heal Julian, but she was caught in a mind meld by Vivienne, allowing the woman to see her memories of where the Command Center was located, how to enter, and how to open the door to the underchamber. Vivienne then left, giving Macy enough time to hurry to Harry, who was unable to save Julian, and portal back to the Center. Knowing that they had little time, the sisters and Harry agreed that they need to seal the underchamber. But before they could finish the spell, Vivienne blasted her way into the Command Center, knocking the four out in the process. She then made her way to the black amber tree, and placed her hand in the pool of black amber, poisoning it. Drunk on power, Vivienne returned to the Charmed Ones, and attempted to siphon the Power of Three from them. However, as the Power of Three was too much for any one person to handle, Vivienne was overwhelmed, and vanquished. The damage was done, however. Every dot on the witch board was red, as were the dots representing demons when the map was switched to demon-spotting mode. Mel, Maggie, and Macy headed to the underchamber, to find that the tree was dying, with its leaves falling and turning to ash, while the black amber had turned a dark green. The black amber had been poisoned, and with it the rest of the magical world.

In "Triage", as magic is deteriorating all over the world, the Charmed Ones went in separate directions to retrieve pieces of the Source in order to infuse its power with the tree to save it. The Guardian warned them that to merge its power with the tree required the greatest sacrifice: one Charmed One will die. After retrieving the pieces and fusing them back together, Mel attempted to sacrifice her own life for the cause by putting the pendant and her hand into the black amber pool. Macy and Maggie, unwilling to lose their sister, join in with the merge. A powerful blast then followed. Though they have succeeded in saving the magical world, they are now unable to go near magical beings: doing so automatically sets off an energy blast and gives them all a skin rash.

In "You Can't Touch This", Macy is in the Command Center, focused on brewing a blood cleanse for their mysterious allergy when Harry joins and asks about her progress, also bringing her coffee. After chanting a spell, Macy places the wall-sized map into a new, allergy spotting mode which shows the location of her and her sisters. After taking the Blood Cleansing Potion, hopeful that it will work and cure the allergy, she & Harry walk towards each other.

The next day, Macy and Harry reassemble in the Command Center to try the revelation spell to find the source of their allergy. After attempting to enchant the spell, frustrated with the results, Macy leaves, saying that she needs to be alone. Immediately after she’s gone, Harry notices that the spell starts to work when a blue, electric-charged circle forms and sends a blast directly into the wall, revealing an engraved stone covered in ancient symbols. A possessed Maggie is seen walking through the Command Center dragging a bag of bones. Macy is in the Command Center, performing a spell to bring a creature back to life. Harry enters to find her and attempts to wake her, but to no avail. He then notices a dark, swirling cloud hovering over the Center, and the shadow of what appears to be a monster, inside of the cloud. Mel and Maggie soon enter the Center, having to get themselves there since Harry can't orb them all together because of their allergy, and find Macy unconscious on the floor. They wake her up, and just as expected, she's confused about what's happened. Maggie theorizes that Macy used a Body Restoration Ritual that required the Power of Three, and instantly, Macy being the brilliant scientist she is, deduces that when the monster possessed them, it should've contracted the same trace elements, and uses the allergy-spotting mode to find it's location, which leads to them finding Harry unconscious.

In "Yew Do You", At the Command Center, Macy writes down the phrase the people repeat in the DirtDish videos. Macy tells Maggie and Mel that she’s seen these words before. She searches the Book of Elders and finally lands on the right page. Macy states that “Ama” in Latin is love. Maggie interrupts them and says she found conspiracy theories that these are all results of alien mind control. They find out that these people are still out there. Macy says that they must find the “Crazy Car Lady” first, a.k.a Jason’s girlfriend. Macy asks Maggie if she can get a vision to find the girl, but Maggie says she’d have to go to the gas station to get one. Mel gets a message saying she must attend office hours. Maggie and Macy say that they can handle it. Mel thanks them and takes off.

In "I Dreamed a Dream…", Harry finds Macy unconscious and takes her back to Vera Manor. That evening, the Vera sisters say their final goodbye to Macy, who dies and becomes a guardian. It is here that the Guardian tells them there is another Charmed One out there.

In "Not That Girl", Maggie tries to portal to Mexico City to battle demons, but the board points her to Philadelphia. Later, a marble of her creation opens a portal that leads Kaela Danso into the Command Center.

Joséfina Reyes consumes an apple that manifested from Kaela's drawing and became a paper doll while simultaneously creating a being from the negative space. The Vera-Danso Charmed Ones first meet the monster while finding Joséfina's papered state, and narrowly escape. They later destroy the monster by activating the Power of Three to protect them, then put Joséfina's paper form inside the being, erasing it from existence.

Rooms and Surroundings[]

The Witchboard/Map[]

The Witchboard is a magical locator system that alerts whenever witches are in danger. The map has a system that has the ability to track witches and create portals to their location when necessary. The system then produces a small marbles that, when tossed, will create a portal leading back to the Command Center. Seemingly, the system can magically sense the area that the user chooses with the desk marble, thus depositing them somewhere that’s safe and/or out of view, as well as other locations chosen by the user. The system has a variety of spells that allow it to be switched between detecting witches, demons, the allergy, and it was eventually updated to sense the creation of rifts from which monsters affiliated with the Stone Tablet were escaping, allowing the user to portal there almost immediately if needed. If a witch is in danger, a specific dot on the map would turn red and raise an alert and once the danger is absolved, the red dot would settled back to blue but in the case of a witch dying, the dot will disappear completely.

Macy invented the spell that detects whoever has been infected by the allergy; the result of fusing the Source with the Black Amber Tree.

The Library[]

The library is located on the left side of the command center, with multiple shelves of books and references.

Black Amber Tree Chamber[]

There is a vault door that leads directly down to the chamber where the black amber tree is located. The tree is upside down, with its roots connecting to the floors and pillars of the Command Center. The room itself has a small fountain filled with black amber coming from the tree while the rest of the place is a vast emptiness that illustrates space. The tree is also protected by guardians, who, in their lifetimes, were former Charmed Ones.

Effects[]

  • Aura Stripping: Witches who go through the Witchness Protection program, have their auras stripped when they enter a room in the Command Center through a portal. That prevents them from being magically detected while also rendering their active witchly powers dormant and restricting access to only the basic powers of a witch (spell casting and potion making). Witches can regain their former powers by drinking from a chalice of pure black amber hidden in a secret area beneath the Command Center. Any witches that have been put through the Witchness Protection program are traditionally given a marble to return to the Command Center should they ever wish to resume active duty, in which case they would have been presumably assisted by a Whitelighter or an Elder.
  • Portal Creation: The Command Center has a magical system that has the ability to track witches and create portals to their location. The system then produces a small marble that when tossed will create a portal leading back to the Command Center. Seemingly, the system can magically sense the area that the user chooses with the desk marble, thus depositing them somewhere that’s safe and/or out of view, as well as other locations chosen by the user. The system has a variety of spells that switch the map between detecting witches, demons, the allergy, and the rifts where monsters are coming through, so the user can portal there almost immediately if needed. Macy invented the spell that detects whoever has been infected by the fusion of the Source with the Black Amber Tree.
  • Power Negation: The Command Center is able to negate demonic powers, rendering any demon inside powerless. This includes demonic powers used by good witches, such as Macy's pyrokinesis. When the Center is in lockdown, all powers are negated, including those of good witches.
  • Sensing: If a witch is in danger, their specific dot on the map will turn red and raise an alert. Once the danger is absolved, the red dot will settle back to blue. If the witch perishes, the dot will disappear from the map.

Trivia[]

  • Celeste claims that she invented the 'witchboard' - the map and portal system used to locate witches in danger and portal to them.
  • According to Celeste, the Command Center is one of the most secure places in the entire magical world.
  • The portal made from the Command Center has a blue color, while all of the portals made by the marbles are yellow. This is most likely a reference to the famous puzzle-platform video game named Portal.
  • At the start of season 4, Jordan has somehow obtained access to the Command Center that allows him to enter without needing one of the sisters to cast the Desenmascarar Spell.
  • Similarly to the Witchboard, in the original series, witches would use the method of Scrying, by using a crystal pendant and swinging it over a map, to pinpoint the locations of witches or evil beings and demonic activity.
    • It was also shown that Scrying could be used with modern technology, such as using a laptop and a crystal attached to the mouse, and locate beings from an on-screen map, almost like the Witchboard in the reboot.
