The Haunt is a local bar and hangout spot for the residents of Hilltowne, Michigan. Mel Vera formerly worked there as a bartender.
History[]
In "Other Women", Maggie Vera and Macy Vaughn both went to the Haunt while Galvin Burdette was there in order to investigate Summer, his then-girlfriend. Also, Maggie ran into Parker Caine, despite her attempts to avoid him.
Mel Vera, Macy, and Maggie went to the Haunt to take their minds off their troubles in "Kappa Spirit". While there, Maggie ran into Lucy and, in an attempt to get Lucy to forgive her for kissing Parker and get back into Kappa Tau Kappa, she offered Lucy and her crew a pitcher. Lucy then attempted to pour it on her, but Mel froze the scene and Macy redirected the drink telekinetically so that it spilled on the floor instead.
In "Out of Scythe", Mel started working at the bar after losing her job as teaching assistant at Hilltowne University as an unforeseen consequence of rewriting history. It was there that Mel met Jada Shields.
In "Bug a Boo", Macy went on a date at the Haunt with a man that she met on AptitudeMatch, but he turned out to be a demon and kidnapped her after the date. The next evening, Macy called Galvin to ask him out for a drink at the Haunt. Galvin was on his way when a car accidentally ran into him.
In "Keep Calm and Harry On", Mel met with Jada to give her a jar of hellflame that she had stolen from the demon Alastor's office. While they were leaving the Haunt, Niko Hamada was seen taking pictures of them.
Mel came to the Haunt in "Witch Perfect" with Jada on her night off to do a mission, where they hexed a registered sex offender, who tried to drug a woman. While there, Mel ran into Niko and they had a brief conversation.
In "Manic Pixie Nightmare", the film class, World Cinema 201, held a wake for Judd after he was killed by a mind-controlled pixie named Chloe. Right outside the bar, one of the students, Noah, had an accident as well involving the pixie.
In "Touched by a Demon", Gideon tried to pick up Trishelle, but she found him revolting. Levi scolded him for being insensitive. The brothers began to argue and were about to show their wings in public when Mel froze the scene to avoid exposure, then took the brothers back to the manor.
In "Surrender", Maggie offers to be bait, wanting to secure some demon blood for Parker. In the bar, she attracts the attention of Viralis, he is able to sense her deep desire for a love that will never leave her and uses that to subordinate her. The two of them then disappear back to his compound.
In "Ambush", Kappa Tau Kappa threw a party at the Haunt for Cinco de Mayo. While there, Hunter Caine had Lucy call Maggie to tell her to bring the last remaining Elder, Devorah Silver, or he would massacre everyone at the bar. The Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones, Elder Silver and Harry Greenwood soon arrived at the Haunt before Mel froze the bar and Elder Silver transported them and Hunter into a pocket dimension of the Haunt where they could fight the demon freely. Though they succeed in vanquishing Hunter, he used his last ounce of strength to fling a dagger into Elder Silver's chest, killing her effectively. With her death, the pocket dimension disappeared, transporting everyone back to the real bar. Later, while two students were cleaning up the bar, the Harbinger of Hell's airborne Touch of Death virus infected them and they immediately collapsed.
Trivia[]
- It was in this bar that Mel Vera first met Jada Shields. Later, it was at this place that they kissed for the first time.
- It can be presumed that Mel kept this job until her and her sisters were magically relocated to Seattle in the second season premiere.
- Mel's job at the Haunt is a reference to Piper Halliwell owning a nightclub in the original Charmed series.
- It can also be an reference to Quake, a restaurant that Piper was hired at in the series premiere before she quit in the first season finale.
- Later, Mel became the owner of another bar, which makes this reference more stable.
