A GemCast is an amethyst-like device that magical beings use similarly to a smartphone for humans. It can be used to record oneself, others and events and play them back in the form of moving, audio imagery. A recorded event can then be distributed to other GemCasts and allow other individuals to watch the recording, acting as a type of social media for magical beings. The device's purpose is to hear news that isn't related to witches or demons, however they are mostly used for crowdsourced complaints.
History[]
In "Ripples", Mel Vera took a GemCast from the Blue Camellia and gave it to Kaela Danso to observe the magical community while her and Maggie Vera took a day at a magical spa. After sabotaging their day at the spa, the Tallyman later used one to broadcast the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones' "misdoings" in order to turn the magical world against them.
In "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sandwich", Donnie Hoblinka was shown obsessively listening to GemCast rants, fueling his hatred for the Charmed Ones, because he believed they were the reason his work never reopened. This obsession eventually leads to his wife leaving him.
In "Unveiled", Maggie used one to explain to the magical community that, despite the Charmed Ones being special and saviors of the magical world, they're human first and urges people to remember that before they are unfairly judged by those who don't know them. After she recorded that message. Maggie expressed hope that people will ease up on them.
In "Be Kind. Rewind.", Joséfina Reyes was shown using a GemCast to view Dev Banerjee's memorial service, while searching through the kitchen of Vera Manor for matches to get to the Blue Camellia as she was running late for the memorial.
