A glamour is a magical powder to alter the appearance of people and objects.

Overview[]

When utilizing the powder, the objects or beings being glamoured are surrounded by a puff of green smoke. The alterations conjured by this powder are not illusions, but rather physical changes to reality. This powder only works on inanimate objects, thus beings who utilize glamour powder are able to change their style or outfit - though they are unable to change their physical appearance in any manner. It is unclear what happens to glamoured objects that have been consumed by an individual before being unglamoured; such as the skinny margaritas consumed by Lucy and her sorority companion which Maggie had glamoured from a pair of limes.

History[]

In "Sweet Tooth", Maggie Vera used this powder for personal gain to throw a party for her sorority and impress her sisters, Macy Vaughn and Mel Vera. Due to the overwhelming amount of glamouring she was doing, she started suffering side effects, such as overexerting her magical abilities and being unable to focus when performing other pieces of magic. After she reverted everything to their original forms, Maggie also found out that, as a consequence to her personal gain, she was being glamoured to have a wart on her chin.

In "Things to Do in Seattle When You're Dead", glamour powder was used by Macy to make herself and Harry Greenwood take on a more demonic appearance before entering Seventh Circle Night Club.

In "An Inconvenient Truth", Macy used the powder to make herself and Harry take on a more post-apocalyptic appearance to blend in on Ragnar Row, the magical black market.

In "Triage", Maggie and Jordan Chase returned to Hilltowne and tried to use the glamouring powder to infiltrate Kappa Tau Kappa's sorority house during a costume party. However, the powder failed, because magic was rapidly deteriorating.

In "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sandwich", Maggie used the glamouring powder off-screen to turn her and Kaela Danso's outfits into ones of the 1920's to blend in with the setting when they moved into the past.

Supercharged Glamour Powder[]

Green powder

Unlike usual Glamours, supercharged glamour powder is able to change not only the manner of dress but also the entire physical appearance of the user. For example, Celeste was able to give Maggie the appearance of Abigael Jameson-Caine. The effect of this powder lasts for several hours.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In the original series, Glamouring is a magical power to change one's appearance in a form similar to illusion and it did not involve inorganic objects. Beings without the power to glamour can access it via spells.
  • Despite the entry in the Book of Shadows stating that glamours needed to be cast by coating the fingers and snapping them, and Season 1 portraying it as such, from Season 2 onwards, glamour powder is used by blowing it onto the intended object to be changed.
    • The reversal spell listed in the Book of Shadows is Sine Dolus which translates as Without Deceit. However, in Sweet Tooth, Maggie used her own spell to reverse the glamours, Lux Veritas, which translates to Light Truth.
  • The exact ingredients and method for creating the supercharged glamour powder was never revealed.
    • Supercharged glamour powder has a time limit for how long someone is transformed, while regular glamour powder can be in effect seemingly indefinitely until the reversal spell is cast.
  • The display of glamour as a separate power was never shown onscreen in the reboot series. However, according to Joey Falco[2], Lydia Jameson's power is "Eternal Beauty", an advanced glamour that could bestow ageless beauty on anyone she wishes. This is the reason that her grandmother, Francesca Jameson, began hunting her.
    • It is unspecified if Lydia can use this power on herself as well as others and if it grants actual youth or just changes the appearance of someone to make them look younger.
    • In the original, there was a power called Age Shifting for such purposes.
