Trivia[]
- The episode title may be a reference to the famous song of the same name.
- Macy Vaughn passed away in this episode, which leads to the loss of the Power of Three and the disbandment of the current incarnation of the Charmed Ones.
- This is also the first death of one of the Charmed Ones shown in the reboot series.
- Poppy Drayton was mistakenly placed on credit, however, her character doesn't physically appear and is not mentioned in the episode.
- Nevertheless, as Macy's memories, archival footage of the murdered Future-Abigael from the erased dark timeline was shown.
- Ruby and Celeste return in this episode. They were last seen in Schrodinger's Future.
- Joséfina Reyes and Aladria were mentioned. They were last seen in The Storm Before the Calm.
- Marisol Vera is mentioned. She was last seen in Spectral Healing.
- Jimmy is indirectly mentioned. He was last seen in Triage.
- Dexter Vaughn is mentioned. He was last seen in Don't Look Back in Anger.
- Harry's first death as a mortal was alluded to when Jordan asks him why he can't just step out in front of a car to become an Whitelighter again. Harry's cause of death this way was revealed in What to Expect When You're Expecting the Apocalypse.
- Cassandra Consiglio previously played Ancient Charmed One #3 in Perfecti Is the Enemy of Good.
- As of this episode, Harry has turned into a Whitelighter three times in his life.
- Archive footage of Pilot, Bug a Boo, Switches & Stones, Memento Mori, The Source Awakens, Safe Space, Breaking the Cycle, Third Time's the Charm, Don't Look Back in Anger, and Schrodinger's Future were shown.
Continuity Errors[]
- The Whispering Evil was able to possess Macy, even though she was a demon-witch. However, in "What to Expect When You're Expecting the Apocalypse", it was said that he is a parasite that needed a mortal host.
- It is possible that the Whispering Evil was able to possess her, because she was not a hereditary demon-witch and lacked immortality. Although, this is contradicted by the fact that the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones had been trapped inside the tomb for a short time in Witch Way Out without being overtaken by the ancient monster, despite all three of them being humans.
- It is never revealed how Mel's intense contractions, which began at the end of the previous episode, were mysteriously stopped.
- Harry becomes immortal again using the same method that made him a Whitelighter for the first time. However, in "Spectral Healing", Mo claimed that if Harry lost his immortality, it would be forever and it would not return to him. Although, as Harry was looking to permanently be mortal at the time, this could have simply been Mo telling him that if he lost his immortality, it would be gone for good - without taking into account any processes that Harry might take to gain back his immortality in the future.
Answered Questions from Previous Episode(s)[]
- How will the Charmed Ones stop the Whispering Evil before it becomes more powerful than ever?
- Macy found a toxin called bioluminescent lichen, and when the Whispering Evil attempted to possess her, she ingested it to stop it from taking her over. The toxin was able to destroy it permanently.
- Will Mel's baby be born?
- Future Mel was able to take the baby back into herself and return to her own time before it was born.
- Will the sisters be able to break the cycle of the Charmed Ones?
- Despite their best efforts, the sisters were unable to break the cycle, and, with the death of Macy, the sisterhood was once again destroyed, and the current incarnation of the Charmed Ones disbanded. However, according to the Guardian, there is another candidate who can replace Macy and restore the Power of Three.
Unanswered Questions[]
- Who will replace Macy Vaughn as the new Charmed One?
- What will happen to SafeSpace, Seattle now that Macy is dead?
References to the Original Charmed[]
- The episode title is called "I Dreamed a Dream...", which could be a reference to the episode "I Dream of Phoebe" in the original series.
- Macy Vaughn passed away in this episode because of the Whispering Evil. In the original show, Prue Halliwell, one of the Charmed Ones, was also killed due to the forces of evil.
- Both were the eldest sisters with the power of telekinesis.
- Macy and Prue both died at the age of 30.
- Both deaths occurred in the finale of the third season of their series.
- The Guardian appearing in Macy's mind to tell her she would become a Guardian like her. The scene was very much like "Death Takes a Halliwell" from the original series when the Angel of Death appeared to Prue to convince her to accept death in general.
- The Guardian appears at the end to tell Mel and Maggie about there being "another one" out in the world somewhere, similar to how Piper and Phoebe found out about Paige after Prue died.
- Mel and Maggie casting a Lifeline Spell to enter Macy's mind was similar to Phoebe and Paige casting the Mind Link spell to enter Piper's.
- Whilst Maggie had accepted Macy's fate, Mel tried to find another way to save her. This was reminiscent of their counterparts, Piper and Phoebe's attitudes towards Prue's death.
- Harry regained his Whitelighter status, after becoming mortal. The same thing happened to Leo after his wings were clipped for a time.
- The Charmed Ones entered a dream world after casting the Lifeline Spell. This happened on a number of occasions in the original.
- In her dreamworld, Macy spent her wedding with Harry at Vera Manor in a narrow circle of her sisters and friends. In the original series, Piper and Paige also had their weddings in the family house, inviting only close friends and relatives.
- When trying to find a way to die in order to become a Whitelighter once more, Harry vetoed Jordan's suggestion of committing suicide by jumping in front of a car, citing that it would hurt and potentially damage his body beyond what his resurrection as a Whitelighter can handle. In the original series, suicide was one of the few ways for a future Whitelighter to be barred from becoming a Whitelighter permanently.
- Future Mel takes back her unborn baby by transfering it from present Mel's womb into hers. In the original show, the Seer performed a ritual to transfer the Source's heir from Phoebe's womb into hers.

- Macy: And time is like shoes.
- Maggie: Never have enough.
- Jordan: I wish I could take the pain away.
- Maggie: I'm numb. Except for this cut on my finger. I got it helping Macy to the tree room, and now I never want it to heal.

- The Guardian: There is another. She's out there.
