Linea de la Vida, also known as the Lifeline Spell, is a spell that is used to prolong a person's life by inducing them into dreams. The spell was created by Joséfina Reyes's great-great-great-grandmother named Esperanza. She later added the spell to the recreated Book of Shadows.
Overview[]
The caster will be sent into the stricken one's mind, where they will walk in the person's dreams of every life experience the latter ever desired to do. The caster must not leave their side, or the spell will be broken.
History[]
In "I Dreamed a Dream…", after Macy Vaughn was fatally injured in a final confrontation with the Whispering Evil, Mel and Maggie Vera cast this spell to prolong her life. They went on a series of adventures trying to keep Macy alive from a carousel ride, skydiving, relaxing in a field, and road tripping to a wedding and childbirth. The Guardian intervened and slowly woke them from the dream. After Macy explained her death was inevitable, Mel wanted to put her under the spell again to keep her alive; however, Macy said that would only delay the inevitable but not stop it.

Trivia[]
- "Linea de la Vida" translates from Spanish as "Lifeline."
- According to Maggie's theory, the Lifeline Spell isn't physical but emotional. It gives the person a reason to hold on to living. However, later on, she called this spell a "false hope" and a "time thief," for while it would delay death, it could not stop it altogether.
- It has never been revealed exactly for what maximum period this spell can extend the life of a person if the caster continues to remain in their dreams.
- In the original series, Phoebe and Paige cast the Mind Link spell to enter Piper's dream.
