Manifestation is an extremely rare power to manifest things into reality. This ability can be channeled in multiple ways with various sources of inspiration. The most common method is through artwork, but a user's way of channeling their power can be through other methods. It has also been stated that a user may not always need a source of inspiration to channel their power and, as their power grows, may eventually be able to channel their manifestations through thought or imagination alone. Witches with this ability are either known as "manifestors" or "manifesting witches".

This is the primary power of Charmed One, Kaela Danso. She developed the power soon after meeting Mel and Maggie Vera, unlocking her potential as a witch. Initially unable to control her newfound power, she eventually learned to actively channel her power and use it in a variety of ways.

Powers Accessed with Manifestation[]

Transmutation[]

Manifestors may develop a form of Artistic Transmutation, allowing them to manifest a drawing or painting into real life, by transmuting the paint or drawing into the object or being that it depicts, without affecting the surrounding art or the thing it was drawn on, such as a paper, canvas, a jacket, etc. It is possible that this ability could eventually grow to be achieved without the aid of one's artwork.

If a living person consumes an item of food manifested while the user's power is still new and unstable, they become part of the manifestation and transmute into a paper copy of themselves as a consequence, leaving behind unstable negative space that can create a monster, which can only be vanquished by filling the negative space with the afflicted person.

It has also been shown that manifested magical objects seem to be able to mimic the powers of their real-life counterpart. For example, when Kaela manifested a marble from one of her paintings, it opened a portal that led directly to the Command Center, something that can only be done by marbles created from a bowl within the Center. Similarly, Kaela was able to manifest various ingredients to make an antidote for the barachatoxin produced by Maggie after she accidentally mimicked the power of a Loveland frog.

Conjuration[]

Manifestors can also develop the ability to manifest an object into reality, after it has been depicted in the artwork of the user, by focusing on it, acting as a form of Artistic Conjuration. These manifestations could be anything from inanimate objects or living beings. This ability allows the user to keep the artwork intact, allowing them to manifest an object as many times as they want. However, if the ability is still new and uncontrolled, the object will continue being manifested multiple times, until the drawing has been torn. As a witch's power advances, it is possible to access this ability without the use of any art or source of inspiration, using only one's imagination or a thought. For instance, Ishani was able to manifest an entire picnic for Kaela with just a gesture of her hands.[1]

Life Manipulation[]

A manifestor has the limited ability to give or take life to some extent. However, as manifestation allows the user to manipulate the physical world only, this ability seems to be related to biology rather than life force itself. Kaela Danso has demonstrated the ability to make butterflies from her drawings come to life. In a unique display of her power, she was able to vanquish Sunny, a Nekomata, by drawing hashes on a nearby window, as Nekomatas have tally marks on their wrists indicating their remaining lives. Each hash drawn by Kaela had a lethal biological reaction to her victim, allowing her to manifest the rest of Sunny's lives away in one fell swoop.

History[]

In "Not That Girl", Kaela Danso developed this ability after uniting with Mel and Maggie Vera. She unknowingly manifested a marble from a painting inside her van which opened a portal to the Command Center. Later, she left behind her sketchbook in the Center and an apple inside manifested into the real world, which when Joséfina Reyes took a bite out of it, transmuted her into an artwork paper and created a negative space being. Only by activating the Power of Three did the newly formed Vera-Danso Charmed Ones have the power to put Joséfina's picture inside the being, destroying it and bringing her back to the real world in the process.

In "You Can't Go Home Again", Kaela accidentally manifested butterflies from the murals on her bus and patches on her jacket, and later purposefully manifested a slingshot from a drawing she made on the back of Maggie's jacket with Harry Greenwood's guidance.

In "Ripples", Kaela first used her power accidentally to conjure a doodle of a ball of light, which went unhinged and started knocking into things in the Command Center and she snuffed it out by hitting it with a book. She later learned to use her power to conjure a martini with the guidance of Dev without turning him into a paper figure and creating a negative space being. Although, she learned to control her power, the martini drinks began to multiply uncontrollably until Duncan ripped her drawing to stop the replication. She later used this knowledge to replicate bath bombs for a purification spell.

In "The Tallyman Cometh", Kaela spontaneously created a bow and an arrow to fight after locating the Tallyman's whereabouts.

In "Unveiled". Kaela conjured up a mortar and pestle, and ingredients to make an antidote for the barachatoxin that was accidentally used to poison her birth parents.

In "Truth or Cares", while Mel was being held at clawpoint by Sunny, Kaela manifested a dagger in Mel's hand then opened a portal to distract Sunny long enough for Mel to break free.

In "Hashing It Out", Kaela manifested a door to get past a Containment Spell surrounding Safespace. She later used it to vanquish Sunny by drawing away her lives using Dev's blood as ink.

In "Divine Secrets of the O.G. Sisterhood", Ishani conjured up a picnic setting then coaxed Kaela into eating some drug-induced Ghanaian fritters in order to show her an important part of the original Charmed Ones' history.

In "Be Kind. Rewind.", after the Charmed Ones reclaimed their powers, Kaela quickly manifested a casette tape containing all of the needed information. Maggie then used the time powers she mimicked from Mel to send it back in time for their past selves to see.

Trivia[]

  • In the original show, this power was known as Thought Projection and could be used to either create a being out of thin air or transform existing matter into another form.
    • In the original series, the drawing must remain intact for the effects to last: if the drawing is destroyed, the creations will vanish and anyone who was transformed will revert to their original states. In the reboot, tearing the drawing will simply stop the constant replication.
    • Also in the original series, Manifestation was the power to keep existing in a spiritual form after one's vanquish until a new body could be created.
  • So far, the users of this power can only manifest their own art. It is unknown if the power can grow to eventually affect the work of other artists.[2]
  • This power may have the potential to develop similarly to the power of Projection in the original show. However, a key difference between the two is that Manifestation would be limited to controlling the physical world, as opposed to Projection, which had the potential to travel in time, astral project and many more.[3] It should be noted, though, that it could be possible for Manifestation to grow in a similar manner, such as perhaps even more obscure usages like manifesting changes to reality or manifesting things like fire to attack someone, replicas or projections of oneself and others, and other fascinating feats.
