The Nebron Root Bomb was a powerful, magical weapon that was created by the first Charmed Ones, Ishta, Inara, and Ishani, when they were fighting the first Conqueror as a fail-safe in case the Power of Three was not enough to stop him. Fortunately, the trio was able to defeat him without having to resort to the bomb, and it was left undisturbed for thousands of years. It was activated in 2022 presumably by the troll of the Unseen at Inara's behest. After reconciling, the first Charmed Ones sacrificed themselves to save the magical world and destroyed the bomb in the process.

Overview[]

The Nebron Root Bomb is a large sphere of light. Its light grows as its power builds until it reaches an exploding point, which would have enough power to destroy everything magical in its vicinity. The only way to stop the bomb's explosion is for a living being to step into the line of the energy and take it all in, though it will kill them in the process.

History[]

8000 BC[]

When the first Charmed Ones were still fighting the first Conqueror, they worried that the Power of Three would not be enough to stop him and planned a fail-safe by creating the Nebron Root Bomb, which would eliminate the threat of the Conqueror by destroying all of magic. They named the plan "the Mercy Days." Thankfully, they were able to stop the Conqueror and did not have to resort to using the bomb.

2022[]

In "The End Is Never The End", Harry Greenwood enters the Veil to talk to the troll, who reveals that Inara wants to destroy all magic if she cannot rise, which would destroy all magic and everyone magical. Just then, somewhere in the woods, a bomb activates. Ishta and Ishani mentioned the bomb when they realized what Inara was planning after the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones stopped her original plan. Inara wanted to use the bomb to take revenge against Ishta and Ishani for entombing her ten thousand years ago.

When Mel Vera, Kaela Danso, and Maggie Vera use a ritual to resurrect Inara, Jordan Chase, Harry, and Joséfina Reyes find the bomb. Joséfina removes the moss around it and sees how far it has advanced: the bomb was planted at a conjunction point of three ley lines, which would cause the explosion to follow the lines across the planet and snap back, destroying everything magical in its path.

The bomb's energy started to expand and blow across the ley lines. With no other choice, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones stepped into the paths of the energy and attempted to sacrifice themselves to save the world. However, Ishta, Inara, and Ishani soon arrived after resolving their millennia-long grudge and took the Vera-Danso sisterhood's places in the bomb's paths, sacrificing themselves to save the world as the bomb detonated.

Trivia[]

  • "Nebron" is the Latin version of an Assyrian word for "hunter." This is most likely a reference to the fact that the bomb, like a hunter, tracks down magical creatures and kills them in the process.
    • Also, the word "Nebron" may be related to the Ancient Greek word "neuron < νεῦρον," which means "nerve." Similar to how nerve roots branch off and carry electrical impulses to the brain and the rest of the body, this bomb also branches off through ley lines and sends out a magical impulse of energy.
