Not That Girl is the first episode of the fourth season of Charmed and the sixtieth episode of the series overall. It aired on March 11, 2022.
Synopsis[]
SEASON PREMIERE – Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) are learning to navigate life without their sister Macy – Mel distracts herself with new flings at magical hotspot, the Blue Camellia bar, while Maggie is taking on more than her share of demon hunting. Meanwhile, Harry (Rupert Evans) is struggling, mourning his lost love, and Jordan (Jordan Donica) has teamed up with Maggie while navigating his newfound magical powers. Across the country in Philadelphia, an unsuspecting young woman (Lucy Barrett)... is living her life... mechanic by day, muralist by night... when she's suddenly thrust into a new world, coming face to face with the women she's inexplicably seen in her dreams. Just as Mel, Maggie and Harry are uncovering information about this mysterious new person, Josefina (guest star Mareya Salazar) goes missing on her way to a pixie-pledging ceremony, and Mel and Maggie must rely on their "new third" to help their cousin... and find out if she is indeed the other Charmed One that they were told was "out there somewhere."

References to the Original Charmed[]
- Kaela develops the power of Manifestation. In the original show, this power was called Thought Projection and belonged to a young male witch named Kevin.
- Maggie restlessly hunting demons to channel her anger is similar to how Piper was in the alternative reality in the 100th episode or the episode where she became a fury.
- The blue light is very reminiscent to how the Charmed Ones were formed each time.
- When Maggie touched Kaela, the sky was briefly filled with thunder and lightning, the same thing that happened in the season one premiere. In the original, the Halliwell Manor's chandelier would glow every time the Power of Three was formed.
- The line "This is completely, certifiably insane" is a quote similar to when Paige said, "I sound certifiably insane now."
- Kaela being left at a fire station as a newborn is similar to how Paige was left at a church. Both were eventually adopted.
- The word "hulk out" was used as a term for the docile creatures who unexpectedly turned violent.
- There was an episode in the original that was titled "Hulkus Pocus".
- There is a character listed only as an "encantada". In the original's comic, there was a trio of pixie-like females known as Encantadas.
- Kaela's initial dismissal of witches and magic existing, which barred her, Mel, and Maggie from activating the Power of Three, is similar to Paige's initial skepticism at magic in the original episode "Charmed Again", where Piper and Phoebe tried to convince her she had powers of her own.
- This episode introduced the Blue Camellia, a club, that only allows magical patrons. In the season 9 comics, Neena frequented Luscious, a nightclub in which magic could be used openly.
- The Blue Camellia goes on to become a recurring location, throughout the season. In the original series, Piper owned the nightclub P3, which was also regularly attended by the main characters.
- Mel ghosting her dates at the nightclub is similar to how Phoebe quickly told her dates that she wasn’t interested in them after not getting a vision of them being her future daughter's dad.
- Maggie and Mel find that Kaela had graffitied the triquetra, onto her van, without knowledge of what it represents. In "Charmed Again, Part 1", Paige also draws the same image on a napkin, without knowing that it is the Charmed One's symbol.
- Kaela is an artist. Her counterpart, Paige, was also shown to have artistic abilities, in the original series.
- Like the original season four premiere, this episode finds the sisters reconstituting the Power of Three with a new individual after losing their eldest sister.
- The song at the episode's end had the lines "Something wicked this way comes". The pilot episode of the original Charmed had a similar title, with the word 'Wicked' changed to 'Wicca'.
- Joséfina becoming two-dimensional after consuming an apple is similar to when Paige fell into a sleep-induced coma as Snow White after eating the poisoned apple.
Production Notes[]
- The episode was watched by 0.40 million U.S. viewers.
- Shi Ne Nielson joins the recurring cast starting with this episode.
- The name of the new Charmed One was hidden for a long time, but on February 24, 2022 promo photos appeared in which her name was spoilered as "Kaela Danso". 10 minutes later, the CW tried to remove her name from all the photos, but it had already become known to many fans long before it was revealed in the series.
