Synopsis[]

BOUND TOGETHER — With Harry (Rupert Evans) still missing, Mel (Melonie Diaz), Macy (Madeleine Mantock) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) devise a plan that requires to ask for Tessa's (guest star Chloe Bridges) help. Parker (Nick Hargrove) is close to conquering his demon side, but all doesn't go smoothly so he turns to Maggie for what he hopes will be comfort. Meanwhile, Niko (Ellen Tamaki) is eager to help Mel, but in return asks Mel for help in learning about her past.

Plot[]

Maggie says that Harry may have left the key as a trail for them to find him. Through her evil sight, Macy sees Fiona's massacre of the Sarcanas and shares her vision with her sisters.

The Charmed Ones tell Tessa what happened and she agrees to look for Harry using their bond and tells them to stay away from Fiona while she looks for her, but not trusting her the sisters decide to follow her. At work, Macy tells Dr. Julia that she broke up with Galvin and that he now seems afraid of her. The doctor offers to help her get rid of her demonic side of her, but Macy rejects her saying that Galvin had found a way for her too, but that she controls it and is comfortable with her having it.

Meanwhile, Parker wants to wait until he is fully human to have sex with Maggie, elated at being able to be with her. While following Tessa, Mel is ambushed by Niko and discovers that Tessa noticed the tracker Maggie planted on her and got rid of it, so Niko offers to help her find who she's looking for. Julia tries to cure her son, but he is seized by strange convulsions and transforms into his demonic form and throws her away, killing her involuntarily. Shocked by what happened, he runs away; the next day Galvin and Macy don't find her in the office, and Macy gets worried, but Galvin doesn't want to talk to her because the magic scares him and he is tormented by what the Abiku did in his body and tells Macy that he is sorry that she can no longer confide in him, but wants to be left in peace.

That evening Niko manages to convince Mel to take her with her after finding Tessa, while Maggie goes to Parker's dorm, but doesn't find him, while Macy and Galvin discover Julia's body, after he doesn't feel like leaving her alone. Macy stops him from calling the police, telling him that Dr. Wagner's death could be supernatural in origin and she and Maggie realize the mother's death and son's disappearance must be connected.

Meanwhile, Mel and Niko have infiltrated Tessa's house and overhear her phone call in which she promises to hand Harry over to the Elders as soon as she finds him.

Harry covers up Dr. Wagner's death as a heart attack and when he finds out, Galvin tells Macy that he has decided to change jobs and leave Hilltowne. Mel then talks to Niko and tells her that since they are in particular danger right now they shouldn't see each other anymore. Niko counters that two years ago she had to change jobs due to a nervous breakdown and that she now suspects it had a supernatural cause, so Mel gives her the witch hunters' ring so she can have protection. With nowhere else to go, Parker returns to his father and agrees to welcome the Source. References to the Original Charmed[]

  • The episode's new title is a possible reference to the Source of All Evil or the Source of All Magic.
  • The first title of this episode (Power of Four) was a reference to the name of the collective power used by two sisters and their evil counterparts in the OG series. It was also a name created by fans of the original show in hopes that all four sisters (Prue, Piper, Phoebe & Paige) would come together to form the Power of Four instead of just having the Power of Three.
  • Macy using telekinesis to open Julia's car trunk references to "Animal Pragmatism" when Prue uses telekinesis to open the trunk.
  • Charity is shown to be scrying for her sister Fiona. Scrying was a recurring element throughout the original series. However, in most cases, it involved a scrying crystal and a map to locate a targeted individual.

Production Notes[]

  • The episode was watched by 0.71 million U.S. viewers.
  • This episode was originally titled "Power of Four," but was changed to "Source Material" on April 25th, 2019 (three days before the episode premiered).

Quotes[]

Maggie: "Are you scared?"<
Parker: "No way, once I’m human I’ll have you to protect me. With you in my life, I know my darkness can’t take over."

Niko: "Oh, your sisters are witches too! How did I not think of that? Sorry, sorry. Just mind blown all over again."
Maggie: "Yeah, yeah, one big happy coven. We do try and keep it on the down low, though."

Niko: "Who taught you how to pick a lock?"
Mel: "This cop I used to know."

Galvin: "I can’t compartmentalize like you can Macy. We’re different. Who knows, maybe that would have broken us eventually anyway."
Macy: "Wow."

Hunter: "It's like taking candy from a baby. It's only a matter of time."

Maggie: "Harry, you’re free. You can do what you want."
Macy: "You don’t have to answer to the Elders. You’re not bound to anyone, not even us."'
Harry: "Like I would leave you to make breakfast on your own. Come on now."
