The Succubus Vanquishing Spell is a spell that is used to vanquish a succubus.
History[]
In "Other Women", the spell was given to Macy Vaughn by Harry Greenwood when they mistook Galvin Burdette's girlfriend, Summer, to be a succubus. Macy and Maggie Vera arrived at Galvin's apartment and immediately tried to vanquish Summer with the spell. However, it was revealed that Summer was a mortal. Summer believed Macy was high and jealous and decided to cover for her when Galvin came to the door.
Incantation[]
- Sinister succubus, hear my spell.
- Tempt men no more, I banish thee back to Hell.
Trivia[]
- This is the first spell in the reboot series to be cast in English.
- Even though this spell is referred to as "vanquishing," it's worth noting that the incantation uses the word "banish," which carries a slightly different connotation. While "vanquish" typically means "to overcome in battle; defeat," within the Charmed franchise, it is predominantly associated with the complete destruction of magical beings like demons. On the other hand, "banish" implies forcefully sending someone or something away as punishment or to get rid of something unwanted, as seen with beings sent to Tartarus or the Tomb of Chaos.
- In the original Charmed, the terms "Vanquishing" and "Banishing" existed separately. Whereas the first term meant the death of enemies, the second term meant precisely the expulsion of beings from some place or plane.
- In the original series, the Charmed Ones vanquished a succubus named Darla.
- While the spell from the reboot seems to be a direct or straightforward vanquishing spell, the spell from the original series had the unexpected result of turning Prue Halliwell into a man in order to attract the succubus. When the succubus was vanquished, the spell wore off and Prue turned back into a woman.
