The Apocalypse is an event regarding the complete final destruction of the world that was predicted by the Ancient Oracles through a prophecy. This event has been averted by the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones.
Signs of the first Apocalypse[]
The Ancient Oracles predicted three signs of the apocalypse:
- When the weakest of men reach ill-gotten glory. (refers to Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States)
- The movement's great sages fall. (refers to the death of all the Elders, starting from when Marisol Vera died)
- With the blossoming of death, comes the awakening of the Source of All Evil and then we fall. (refers to the Harbinger of Hell and its mission to awaken its master)

Early Signs[]
With certain events of the prophecy coming true (the president of the time and the fall of a few Elders), the recently-awakened Charmed Ones were told to use their powers to protect the world from the prophecy. Other than the three signs, there are also other factors in the prophecy, such as the deafening screams of human torment in a deluge of blood, the Steward of the Source who would herald the arrival of her master, and the Origin Dagger which would be needed to be melded inside a demon born of humans to become the Source's host.
The Charmed Ones were able to delay the Source's arrival by capturing the Harbinger of Hell, but Alastor swapped it before it could be taken into the Elders' custody. They later found the real container that held the Harbinger captive and sent it to Tartarus: a demonic prison.
Events Unfolding the Apocalypse[]
When Fiona Callahan returned from Tartarus, a Vortex Viribus materialized underneath Vera Manor to act as her power source. After regaining most of her power, she massacred the coven that saved her, the Sarcana. Such an act counted as the blossoming of death.
After the Harbinger was released from Tartarus by Alastor and a reluctant Charity Callahan, it possessed Alastor's son, Hunter Caine, who massacred the Elders before being vanquished by the Charmed Ones, thus releasing the Harbinger's airborne Touch of Death virus upon mankind. Charity, being the last of the Elders, was murdered by her sister and the prophecy was fulfilled. However, Galvin Burdette cast a spell to heal everyone who had been afflicted by the Harbinger's virus, sacrificing himself in the process while giving the Charmed Ones a fighting chance. They faced down Alastor and Fiona, who ignited the Sacred Flame. Not wanting Parker Caine to become the Source, Macy Vaughn took the Origin Dagger into herself and absorbed the flame, becoming the Source in the process. Using her new powers to fix the world, she vanquished Alastor and fully healed the people inflicted by the Harbinger's virus. However, the power became too much for her to handle and prompted her to alter reality for her own gain. After helping her realize what she needed to do, the Charmed Ones transferred the Source into Macy's yin-yang pendant. It was broken into three pieces which the sisters hid in three different corners of the world before having Harry wipe their memories to keep them safe, and thus the world was saved, despite the fulfillment of the prophecy.
The second Apocalypse, also known as the Death of All Magic, almost happened on February 14, 2021 due to the fact that Vivienne Laurent poisoned the magical world by coming into physical contact with the pool of pure black amber from the Black Amber Tree beneath the Command Center. As a result, every magical creature began to experience pain and fatigue while magic deteriorated. After having a weakened Abigael Jameson-Caine probe their minds for their hidden pieces, the Charmed Ones each retrieved their pieces of the Source with Macy finding one piece on a deserted island, Mel Vera traveling to 2070 to retrieve her piece, and Maggie Vera tracking to her old sorority before realizing that she had hidden her piece in her music box. The sisters were able to reforge it, and then submerged it into the pool of black amber, merging the power of the Source with the tree to save the magical kingdom. The process nearly killed Mel, but they were able to change the outcome by willingly sacrificing themselves for one another. Unfortunately, it also blasted open a rift in the Tomb of Chaos and gave the girls their allergy to magical beings.
The third Apocalypse almost happened because of when the Whispering Evil escaped from the Tomb of Chaos and infected mortals and magical creatures with his virus that turned them into mindless monsters, starting in Seattle. The Charmed Ones were no more when Macy became the Whispering Evil's host and Maggie died after becoming one of the infected, leaving Mel and Abigael to fight with a small group of resistance. Time-traveling Macy and Maggie saw the outcome of this in the dark year 2026. This event was prevented from becoming reality when Macy sacrificed herself to destroy the Whispering Evil with the help of Bioluminescent Lichen.
Trivia[]
- In the original series, the Halliwell sisters faced the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the penultimate episode of season two.
- Despite having been stripped of her powers, Charity Callahan was still one of the great sages referred to in the prophecy, due to having never truly been stripped of her status as an Elder.
- A Charmed One from another world created the Infinite Home Video to help the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones find ways to save their own world. Diana, a Whitelighter from said world, surmised that whatever was transpiring might be dangerous enough to destroy both worlds. Presumably, this may have led to a fourth apocalypse if the series had continued.
