The Bruja's Ladder is a spell that is used to bind and incapacitate other beings with rope. It is a type of binding spell created by Joséfina Reyes.
Overview[]
The spell works through a combination of ancient Brujeria binding spells and knot magic from the Book of Elders. It requires a triple-knotted rope and an incantation. Once the incantation is spoken, the rope will immediately move to magically bind any targeted beings as well as neutralize their powers, making them unable to escape.
History[]
In "Bruja-Ha", Joséfina Reyes introduced this spell to Mel Vera and was hoping to test it with her on the next monster, but Mel refused to let her join on the hunt as she was trying to protect Josefina from getting hurt. However, Mel did state she was not against using the spell herself. Later, Mel was forced to cast this spell on both Mo and Aladria when they attacked Harry Greenwood after breaking through her containment spell. She watched as the rope bound the Perfecti and flung them back and upwards to tie them at the top of the stairwell. After both Mel and Harry went to search for Maggie Vera and Macy Vaughn, Josefina tried to communicate with Mo and Aladria, in the hopes of them granting/unlocking her witch powers. After some hesitation, she eventually reversed the spell and unbound them.
In "Spectral Healing", Mel used it on Georgie, who was turned monstrous after consuming an overdosing amount of soul softeners. The rope held him captive to keep him from hurting Jill Westwell, his older half-sister. Once Georgie's soul resettled to his body and his monstrous form disappeared, Mel reversed the spell to release him.

To activate the rope, the following spell must be uttered by a true witch.
Make direct eye contact with the creature that requires binding:

- Joséfina created a spell by mixing ancient Brujeria and Elder knot magic. In the original, Paige also once created a spell that was a mixture of Western Wiccan magic and Eastern magic.
