The End Is Never The End is the thirteenth and finale episode of the fourth season of Charmed and the seventy-second episode of the series overall. It is also the series finale episode, which aired on June 10, 2022.
Synopsis[]
SEASON FINALE – In the epic season finale, Mel (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) and Kaela (Lucy Barrett), along with Harry (Rupert Evans) and Jordan (Jordan Donica), have now discovered that the cabal of foes coalescing to bring down the Power of Three are actually working for an ancient evil that's been laying dormant since the dawn of magic. This powerful dark force — known as the Lost One — will be the ultimate test of the strength of the newly discovered sisterhood; forcing them to rekindle their connection…or face the destruction of magic itself.
Plot[]
Picking up where the last episode left off, Kaela leaves the Blue Camellia. Seconds later, Joséfina appears and urges her cousins to watch the tape to find out everything that would happen, saying they only have one last chance to save the world. Watching the tape, Mel and Maggie are horrified and determined to change the outcome. Mel confronts Roxie for planning to go into hibernation without saying goodbye and urges her to wait.
Mel intercepts Kaela on the road and convinces her to come back with her to save the world. Meanwhile, Harry asks Roxie if she has heard of an alternate world where other Whitelighters and Charmed Ones exist, but she hasn't. She asks him to take over the bar for her, but he declines because he doesn't believe it is his destiny. Roxie then questions what his destiny is, but he is at a loss. Joséfina enters and asks if he knows how to get back to Infinite Home Video.
Maggie intercepts Jordan before he runs into Chloe, and professes her love, prompting him to do the same.
The troll gets instructed by Inara to change the plans, as she senses the alteration to the present.
Back in the Infinite Home Video, Harry and Joséfina find Diana, who suspects that something is destabilizing not only their world but hers as well as both worlds have pathways. Diana suspects that something at large is coming and that was why the Charmed One from her world created the dimension. Diana shows them a television of what happens in the present where the troll is preparing to bury the Book of Shadows and the Unity Bowl. Three hooded Unseen members show up and take back the objects. The troll declares this is their very last day on Earth before drinking the explosive elixir to kill himself. While walking in the woods, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones hear Inara's voice. They try to reason with her, but she refuses to listen.
Back at the Command Center, Jordan is watching the tape when the sisters appear. After a short conversation and Jordan's comment about sisterhood, they realize they may be able to reach Inara by reaching out to her sisters. Kaela and Mel go back out on the road to find Ishani while Maggie and Jordan look for Ishta.
On the road, Mel and Kaela find the drugged banana fritters, proving that Ishani was there earlier. Mel then reveals the tie tracks to find her. Meanwhile, Harry enters the Veil to talk to the troll. The troll is confused, thinking he should have reached the Gates of Glory where Inara promised to send him. He realizes Inara lied to him for her goals, especially when Harry tells him the Lost One was a Charmed One. Harry convinces him that the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones are truly good people and to help them. The troll tells him that Inara wants to destroy all magic if she cannot rise, which would destroy all magical beings. Just then, somewhere in the woods, a bomb activates.
Maggie gets a vision on her way into the tree chamber and sees Ishta at a fighting club full of demons. She and Jordan infiltrate the place and find Ishta on a fighting ring. Meanwhile, Mel and Kaela follow Ishani's tracks to a bowling alley. Ishani refuses to join them in helping Inara, so Kaela challenges her.
Back at the club, Ishta refuses to talk to Maggie and Jordan, so Maggie challenges her in a round. While fighting, Maggie tells her she understands the anger and bitterness pain she is feeling, because she was doing the same thing instead of facing her grief. Meanwhile, Ishani is in the lead of the bowling challenge. Mel convinces her to stop running from her pain by drowning out her pain in sex and alcohol the way she did, and pulls her into an embrace, convincing her to leave the cycle she has been trapped in for the last ten thousand years.
Back at the Command Center, Ishta and Ishani are bickering over how they handled the situation with Inara. Harry tells them what he learned from the troll. The original Charmed Ones realize Inara is planning to activate a bomb they created ten thousand years ago in their struggle against the first Conqueror as a fail-safe to destroy all magic and all magical beings in case the Power of Three wasn't enough to stop him.
In the Iranic ruins, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones use the resurrection ritual to resurrect Inara. The woman instantly taunts the Charmed Ones. She is prepared to let the bomb destroy them all. Jordan, Harry, and Joséfina find the bomb at the convergence of three ley lines which would follow the lines across the planet and snap back in a huge explosion. Joséfina removes the moss around it and sees how far it has advanced. Ishta and Ishani apologize to Inara for what they did, but she refuses to accept their apology. When the original Charmed Ones start bickering, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones lecture them for doing it when the world is about to end and tell them that their sisterhood has found more than theirs ever did in all those eons. The bomb explodes. Ishta and Ishani tell them the only way to stop the explosion is to take in the energy, which would kill them, but they are ready to do it and that it won't be their sisterhood that ruins the world.
Reaching the bomb in the forest, Mel, Maggie, and Kaela intercept the energy together, prepared to sacrifice themselves for the rest of the world. Ishani, Ishta, and Inara take their places, having heard their words earlier and reform their sisterhood. The bomb disappears, killing them and sparing the rest of the world.
At the Blue Camellia, Mel offers to take over the bar while waiting for Roxie. While she doesn't know where she'll stand seven years later, she wants to run the bar because the magical community needs a safe place. They kiss goodbye.
Three months later, Joséfina recaps the previous night when feuding species are now learning to be friends while preparing breakfast. Mel and Maggie are both hungover from drinking shots with a satyr. Jséfina goes to the bar to decorate it. Mel gives Maggie a flyer of an apartment she knows she and Jordan have been looking, and encourages her to do it. Harry and Jordan talk about what they plan to do from now on. Harry plans to help the dead cross over from the Veil and help the living as well; Jordan continues being a Whitelighter for all magical beings.
Kaela comes in with a painting of the three of them standing strong together. Harry and Jordan come downstairs with a message from Diana. Harry urges the sisters to go to Infinite Home Video.
Once there, they find a door with the triquetra symbol and a note attached to the side. They believe it is a doorway to another world with other Charmed Ones. With some bravery, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones step through the door and land on the front door of an unknown house. They find the front door unlocked. With a firm belief that they can handle anything they encounter on the other side of that door, Kaela, Maggie, and Mel step through. The door mysteriously closes and the screen zooms out to reveal the Halliwell Manor from the original Charmed.

- In the three months that followed, Mel has taken over the Blue Camellia to maintain peace in the magical world, Maggie has started looking for apartments with Jordan, and Kaela has set up her own studio in the backyard. The sisters are currently working on empowering the magical community.
- In Curtis Kheel's opinion, one of the original Charmed writers and producers, when the Vera-Danso sisters entered the Halliwell Manor they were vanquished by the Halliwell sisters. His Twitter account was later deleted along with the post.
- In Season 1, it was told that Maggie had always had an impressive tolerance to alcohol that she could drink four to five full glasses of wine without being hungover. However, near the end of this episode, Maggie was hungover from a drinking party the previous night, indicating that her tolerance has changed throughout the years.
Continuity Errors[]
- Despite the fact that this episode is supposed to be taking place in the same timeframe of "Divine Secrets of the O.G. Sisterhood", there are various timeline inconsistencies between both episodes.
- For instance, in "Divine Secrets of the O.G. Sisterhood", the Unseen are shown to have already gathered in the mines, recreated the Unity Bowl, and in the process of resurrecting Inara during Dev's funeral. However, in this episode, the Unseen have apparently not gathered, though the bowl has somehow been recreated.
- Additionally, in "Divine Secrets...", Ishani greeted Kaela upon the road as the latter was attempting to leave town and conjured a picnic for them, complete with drugged banana fritters. In this episode, the two of them never meet on the road, but for some reason, when Mel and Kaela go there, the container of banana fritters has still been conjured and left there.
- Joséfina is running late for Dev's memorial service, and eventually shows up with the videotape that had been sent back in time. However, in "Divine Secrets...", Joséfina is nowhere to be found and never shows up to the memorial.
- This episode contradicts information previously given about Ishta. For instance, Ishta was presented in Season 2 and 3 as a guardian spirit connected to the Black Amber Tree and the Command Center. However, in the final episode, this is seemingly retconned as she is able to roam the physical world and is apparently no longer a spiritual being.
- In the scene where the Vera-Danso sisterhood leave the original Charmed Ones through a portal in order to go and stop the Nebron Root Bomb, Maggie goes through the portal on the right, Kaela goes through in the middle, and Mel goes through on the left. However, when the three of them emerge from the portal, Maggie comes out on the left, Mel is now in the center, and Kaela is on the right.
- During the same scene, the aforementioned portal is created by Maggie using one of the black amber marbles. However, this contradicts previously given information about the marbles, which are supposed to create portals leading back to the Command Center when they are thrown. It is unknown how exactly the marble was used to travel to another location aside from the Command Center. This is likely a mistake in the writing.
Answered Questions from Previous Episode(s)[]
- Will the Charmed Ones be able to stop the resurrection ritual again?
- They managed to disguise themselves as members of the Unseen and take back the Book of Shadows and the Unity Bowl before either could be used. However, they were later forced to resurrect Inara themselves.
- How will the Charmed Ones change the outcome?
- By seeing the content in the tape and finding out what transpires, they succeed in figuring out their steps and changing the course of events.
References to the Original Charmed[]
- Ishta and Maggie participate in an underground demonic fight club. In the original, Prue and Phoebe took part in a demonic wrestling ring where they fought physically powerful demons.
- Joséfina mentions seeing pixies and trolls hanging out together was a surprise. This is a nod to the fact that trolls and fairies were enemies in the original show.
- Mel takes over the bar for Roxie. In the original, Piper opened a club in season 2.
- Kaela makes a portrait of the Vera-Danso sisters together. It can be considered a reference to the pictures of Piper, Phoebe, and Paige in season 5 and 8.
- Maggie decides to move out of Vera Manor. In the original series, Phoebe is also the first to leave the Halliwell Manor before her sisters, which also happened in the last season of the first show.
- Though it happened a few times that the sisters moved out of the house, Phoebe was the first to permanently leave it.
- At the end of the episode, the Vera-Danso Charmed Ones enter an alternate reality and land on the front door to the Halliwell Manor.
- The episode ended with the front door closing on its own, a nod to the original show's tradition where the manor's front door magically closed itself.
- Additionally, the original series and the rebooted series both concluded with a view of the Halliwell Manor.
- Kaela found the door unlocked. In the original, Leo told Paige the front door was usually unlocked since demons kept coming crashing through it and it was expensive to fix.
Production Notes[]
- The episode was watched by 0.39 million U.S. viewers.
- April 13, 2022 was the last day of filming this episode.
