The Tongue of Babel is a spell that allows the user to translate languages they don't speak and understand sounds and frequencies they can't hear or decipher. The spell could also make the caster understand any language they read.

History[]

In "The Tallyman Cometh", after Kaela Danso realized the Tallyman's box she and the other Charmed Ones had been given emitted a frequency that they couldn't hear, Mel Vera recalled this being the spell she used during her 'Hot Girl Summer' to understand the languages spoken by some of her past flings, and theorized that the spell could translate the frequency to something they could understand. When she and Kaela tried it, they found the spell translated the frequency to the tune of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow".

In "Cats and Camels and Elephants, oh my…", Mel used the spell to translate an old Persian language on a broken half-stone bowl. Though she could understand the words, the construct was hard to grasp. However, she did make out enough to know what the bowl was meant for.

Incantation[]

Two tongues speak, but neither can hear,
create a tone unique, and the confusion will clear.

Trivia[]

  • The spell's name is likely derived from the mythological Tower of Babel, which is a myth to explain why the world's peoples speak different languages.
