Synopsis[]

FIND YOUR VOICE – The Charmed Ones battle surprising new "nemeses" in both the magical and human world; Macy's pursuit of a cure is interrupted by a shocking inheritance. Also starring Rupert Evans and Jordan Donica.

Plot[]

A young couple parks by a gas station. The girlfriend asks for a strawberry pop and a frappuccino, and the boyfriend confirms he will get them for her. A random stranger knocks on her car window when the boyfriend leaves. The girl rolls down her window and asks if she can assist the stranger. He replies with “Mepte Ama.” As he repeats the phrase, a mystical red energy flows from his mouth and washes over her face. Jason, the boyfriend, comes back but cant find the car or his girlfriend. He turns to see his girlfriend in the car yard away from him. He is shocked by this, but the girlfriend smiles and runs him over.

Cut to Maggie in a dance studio rehearsing a choreographed dance. The scene switches between Maggie in her room, studying for College and her rehearsing her dance. Maggie stresses in her bed, concerned about her writer's block.

Harry and Macy are in the attack trying to decode the runes on the ancient rock. Macy abandons the research, declaring that the runes are almost like gibberish. Harry replies saying that the tablet is the best clue they have and it could contain the history of the Chupa-Alma. Harry tells her that he scoured the web and found a picture of an engraved sketch. Macy is shocked. It looks exactly like the Chupa-Alma. Macy still is hopeless but Harry tries to encourage her. They are interrupted by Mel shouts from downstairs. Harry, Macy, and Maggie rush downstairs. Mel shows them a video from DirtDish of the Jason's girlfriend running him over. They are interrupted by a knock at the front door. Macy answers it and is met by Gloria Lee, an attorney on behalf of the Shea Group. The attorney hands Macy an envelope and declares that Macy has inherited SafeSpace.

Macy and Mel are walking through SafeSpace discussing Macy’s inheritance. Swan interrupts their conversation and congratulates Macy, stating that there is much work to be done. She lists all of the tasks that must be accomplished. Macy is aggravated and tells Swan to send her a text. She joins up with Mel and states how angry she is that she cant go with Harry to Norway. She notices how quiet Mel is and asks what’s wrong. Mel tells her that the dean wants to meet with her.

At the house, Jordan meets up with Harry to travel to Norway. Harry notices Jordan's tie and Jordan requests for him to help bind it. Harry takes it and ties it. He jokingly informs Jordan that there will be many obstacles.

Mel sits in the Dean's office, as Dean Eldon informs her that she can’t just change the syllabus like that. Mel retaliates by stating that the book is extra credit and technically not part of the syllabus. She adds that the book has changed some of the students' behavior. The dean comments that she likes how passionate Mel is. The dean hands Mel a more established text and says that maybe they can push it through. It turns out the book is written by the Dean herself.

Maggie is studying in the library looking for an internship topic when Antonio comes in. He asks if she has found an internship topic. Maggie states that she has a couple ideas. Antonio states that he is working on IGD. Maggie compliments his idea. Maggie receives another video from DirtDish showing more men getting run over. Mel comes in and comments she just had the weirdest meeting. Maggie shows her something weirder, all the videos of people hurting the ones they love. Mel realizes that they are saying something in the video, the same thing, as if they’re in a trance. Maggie tells Mel that she thinks these odd occurrences are the result of magic.

At the Command Center, Macy writes down the phrase the people repeat in the DirtDish videos. Macy tells Maggie and Mel that she’s seen these words before. She searches the Book of Elders and finally lands on the right page. Macy states that “Ama” in Latin is love. Maggie interrupts them and says she found conspiracy theories that these are all results of alien mind control. They find out that these people are still out there. Macy says that they must find the “Crazy Car Lady” first, a.k.a Jason’s girlfriend. Macy asks Maggie if she can get a vision to find the girl, but Maggie says she’d have to go to the gas station to get one. Mel gets a message saying she must attend office hours. Maggie and Macy say that they can handle it. Mel thanks them and takes off.

Harry and Jordan search for the symbols in Norway. Jordan comments that Harry has more experience with “ancient stuff”, and Harry takes the comment as an insult. Harry states that all the age jokes are offended, only to receive back pain. Jordan is about to comment on his age again when Harry tells him he knows. Harry reveals that he never considered the age difference between Macy and himself, but he is always reminded of it. Jordan comments that soon Macy will be old and in a wheelchair, and Harry will have to help her around. Harry seems hurt, as he is realizing that Macy will grow old and they will eventually separate. Jordan confesses his insecurity. Everyone at the firm went to either Harvard or Yale, and he just went to Seattle State. He states that this whole fancy attire feels like a costume. Harry comments that he should wear what makes him feel comfortable, not them. As they converse, Harry finds one of the symbols that was on the tablet engraved on a rock. Harry accidentally steps on a booby trap, and darts start shooting out from cracks between the rocks. Harry and Jordan quickly orb out.

Macy and Maggie are in the gas station where Jason was ran over. Maggie notices broken glass and lays her hand on it in order to receive a vision. She acquires a vision of a forest and various symbols. She informs Macy that the girl is in the forest, and they set off.

While Mel skims over Rebecca Eldon's book, Kevin comes in. He says that he has a comment for Mel. He thanks Mel for what she's done and informs her that Dylan actually apologized to him. Mel says that that's amazing. Kevin replies that it's bare minimum but it's progress.

Maggie and Macy search for the Crazy Car Lady in the forest. Maggie tells Macy that everything she's researched feels inaccessible, and that Antonio probably finished everything by now. Macy tells Maggie not to let him get inside her head. Maggie declares that she’s trying, but she still can’t find anything. Maggie searches and finds a symbol engraved on a tree, the one she saw in her vision. The symbol reads “O-M-O-N.” They find Julie’s wallet and hear her from a distance. Julie is entranced and injured. Macy and Maggie hear dog barks from a distance and realize they’re not alone. They open a portal and take Julie to the Command Center.

Mel enters the Command Center and asks how it’s going with Julie. Maggie remarks that she still hasn’t said a word. Macy leaves to sign work papers, leaving Mel and Maggie alone with Julie. Mel tells Macy about the Deans book and how it is toxic for the transgender community and very expensive. Maggie accidentally plays her “Study Mix.” Julie starts swaying to the music. Both Mel and Maggie notice this. Maggie stands across from her and Julie seems to mirror Maggie's movements. As Julie follows Maggie across the room, Maggie notes that there have been studies showing that catatonic people respond to music. Maggie uses Emotional Inception on Julie, causing her to shiver. Mel asks whats happening, and Maggie states that they are connecting in some way.

Julie confirms the sisters' suspicions after she comes out of her hypnotized state; she never meant to hurt her boyfriend, she only did it because she was under the spell of a handsome and darkly persuasive being named Omon who senses that Julie is no longer under his spell and comes to SafeSpace to hunt her down. He is basically a demonic Narcissus, and he hypnotizes his victims out of an egomaniacal desire to make them his slaves. He successfully hypnotizes Macy, who nearly kills her sisters, before remembering who she is and bucking the spell. In the end, like Narcissus, he is felled by his love of his own reflection, sinking into a magical mirror conjured by Mel. The mirror melts away, but not before leaving behind one of the ancient symbols from the stone tablet. It would seem that Omon is connected to the same creature from the last episode, and to the ancient tablet. The plot thickens.

Inspired by her success with Julie, Maggie finds a focus for her psychology paper; the effectiveness of movement therapy as a trauma treatment. Macy smoothes things over with Swan, and seems ready to become more emotionally invested in the day-to-day running of SafeSpace, Seattle. Harry, meanwhile, warns them that whatever force is behind these ancient symbols, the Charmed Ones are in for some seriously "ancient magic."

  • Macy moving a puddle of spilled potion is reminiscent of Prue and Paige who used their telekinetic powers in the same manner.

Quotes[]

Jordan (to Harry): Well... Whitelighters... they don't age, right? So eventually... she'll catch up to you. She'll even surpass you. You'll be wheeling her around with a drool cup around her chin, so there.

Macy: None of this matters, okay? I have more important things to deal with.
Swan: Well it matters to me. It's our community. It's where we work. And for some of us, it's all we have. We have an opportunity to do something here with Safe Space. If you're not going to carpe diem, then give it to someone who will.
